About Me
I've been a bit of a gypsy the last couple of years travelling with work spending a night here and a week there. I saw whales from my bedroom window some days, went trout fishing in my afternoon on others, and occasionally had a hotel room that looked out over a car park full of logging trucks on other days. Now I'm back living and working in Sydney getting used to the hustle and bustle but also the choice of restaurants on King Street again.
I work in a job that I love which is a good thing because when I'm there it often seems like I should just sleep upstairs on a couch. The flip side of that is that I get lots and lots of days off to do my own thing. Now that summer is around the corner you'll find me kicking back at the beach or diving down at Jervis Bay. I like escaping up to the Blue Mountains to take my chances riding my mountain bike down a quiet trail.
When I'm at home I like cooking for myself and friends, I enjoy trying to capture something of the taste and the smells of the food that I've found in my travels. My idea of the perfect getaway is a plane ticket (or a tank of petrol) and a backpack. I spent last Summer travelling the highways and byways from Hanoi to Beijing with a few twists and turns along the way. I'm planning on going back to Malaysia and Borneo next winter to stop the feet itching for a little while.
I like disappearing into a book for an hour or so, one of the few things that I miss about public transport is the chance to spend the time reading. I'll read whatever takes my fancy but I think Science Fiction will always be my favourite. My choice in music is eclectic at best, I guess I'm more of a Triple J man than a 2DayFM listener if I had to try and stick a label my forehead.
