About Me
I used to be so shy that when I went out to dinner with my family, I couldn't even ask the waiter for a Sprite (or whatever other sugary drink I was consuming as a child). Since then I have traveled on my own to several continents and have almost mastered the art of random conversation. I am still a quiet person, but I try to embrace awkward situations rather than become anxious.
I hail from Austin, Texas and as the notorious bumper sticker says "I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could". I guess that doesn't really make sense then that I live in Vancouver now, but I will be back one day. I've lived here for 3 years and will probably be around for 3 more. It took me a while to warm up to the city (literally), but I have now fallen in love, rain and everything.
I like routines. Or rather, I like to go through long periods of daily routines and then do something so out of the ordinary like book a flight to Asia and country-hop for four months. I like going to the same restaurants, the same shops, when I get into an album I will listen to it on repeat for a week. I make my bed every morning, have coffee and go to class. I am probably the least stressed person I know of. At the same time, I will try anything especially food-wise. Except maybe Balut (google it!). Actually, no, I would probably try it.
Musically wise I have been told I have the the taste of a 70-year-old man. I listen to a lot of classical and some Opera. I go to the Symphony once or twice a month. My favorite composer is Rachmaninoff. Recently I have been getting into Fado, specifically Amalia Rodrigues. I like listening to music with Portuguese or French lyrics, even if I don't always understand it, with a voice like Astrud Gilberto or Serge Gainsbourg, I don't need to understand. I do also like other genres and artists: Beach House, Grizzly Bear, Devendra Banhart, Animal Collective, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone...I have a small vinyl collection going on, but definitely looking to expand it. I always thought people were being pretentious when they said "vinyl sounds better" but it really does.
My home is one of the most important things in my life and spend a lot of time and effort into making it a welcoming place. I like having people over and hosting dinner parties. My friends say I would make an awesome housewife, and you know what? I agree.

 | This one, she drives the men crazy, in the best way possible. Chances are pretty good that she is smarter, sexier, and classier than you. She is an incredible connoisseur of music, food, literature, film, and especially THE INTERNET. Ha, ha. She goes to the symphony on the regular but also makes me watch the superbowl with her. She radiates calm and peace but also is usually the one to convince me to stay at the party a little bit longer. She has a liiiiittle bit of a southern accent, too. And the best part is, there is a chance she might want you. Shazam. |
