About Me
Hi. My name is David and I'm a recovering musician (everyone: 'Hi David!'). I blame Mrs Miller. Once she taught me to play by ear, I was hooked. First it was just a couple of notes a day. Then it was a few chords. Before I knew it I was writing entire songs and spending my nights haunting bars, pubs, and open stages looking for my next fix. I sold my soul for rock n' roll (or at least rootsy-alt.countryish-singer-songwriter-pop-rock.)
There is more to me then just music, however. I love books. I love good film both domestic and foreign which I will always - *always* - prefer to watch with subtitles. Dubbed films make me cringe. I have a soft spot for slightly surreal, absurdist humour. I love a good set-up. There's a bit in the third book of Douglas Adams' HitchHiker trilogy that brilliantly calls back to the first book and never fails to make me smile. I love that kind of stuff.
I thoroughly enjoy biking and do it as much as possible. I miss the mountains and have resolved that I will climb one again next summer. I own a condo and a car and may one day actually own one manufactured less than two decades ago, though likely not soon as I'm headed back to school. In three years time I will be a qualified high school English teacher with a minor in music. Teen-agers beware.
I'm looking to meet people - specifically women. I've reached a point where I am enjoying life more than ever before and would love to meet someone to share some of that enjoyment with. I'd like to meet someone who will challenge my ideas, tickle my funny bone, blow my mind, and kick my ass (not necessarily in that order); someone with an awareness of the world around them politically and socially. And few things are more attractive than a woman with a sharp wit and a playful smile...
And that's me in a nutshell (or at least a small box of text._ If you think you and me might get along, by all means say hello.
