This is my first try at the "computer" dating scene... I have always thought fate would direct me where I need to go, but every once in a while I guess it just needs a little push in the right direction! So here is my push, and in a sense, I guess this was meant to be too!

What I am I looking for? It think this will sound pretty simplistic, but it seems far more easy to say than to find. I want to find someone who can accept me for who I am and vice versa.... find a life partner, a friend and companion that I can get along with, be able to accept each other for what and who we are. I want to be happy and make someone else just as happy! That is my primary life goal. I continue to search for that person. You can have everything in life, but if you don't have someone to share it with, how much does it really matter? I realize accomplishing this goal can sometimes be no simple task and can require significant effort. I have always been willing to put forth effort in anything I value. I want to value my partner above all else.

How do you(we) obtain that? I believe that the foundation for any relationship starts with honesty. First, be honest with yourself and then it is a lot easier to be able to reach out to someone else. On one hand, I am still searching to find myself a little bit, but the framework has certainly been set. Good communication is the key. (Yikes! What I have written so far sounds really sappy. I am going to leave it since it came from the heart. I am not exactly sure why I am sharing this with you... oh well, it is what it is, if you don't like it, I guess I am not the right one for you.)

Okay how about some things I am into. Most who know me would call me a baseball fanatic and they are probably correct. During the summer, I do spend a lot of time following my team as well as baseball in general. I certainly have a passion for watching and following the game. As for other interests, I prefer warm spring and summer days (as opposed to the winter). I love the beach, sand and palm trees! I love the smell of the ocean. I like a good dinners along with a cold crisp beer or sometimes a glass of wine. I think music can stir the soul. While most of my collection is classic rock and roll (here are some groups I like: Dire Straits, U2, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, but I don't limit myself to those types. I also like Dido, Enya and Sarah Brightman, for example). I pretty much like most music except for rap... that is not my bag. I like a good movie and am pretty critical when evaluating same. I am your typical guy who likes the action and sci-fi type movies, but there are some "chick flicks" I like too. If a movie is well written and makes sense, I will probably give it a solid grade. (Here is an example of a well made movie: Shawshank Redemption). As far as TV goes... if you watch Family Guy and get it... that is a plus! I am a creature of habit (too a fault), but I am willing to try most anything once if you push me in the right direction. I can't dance, but would be willing to try. I consider myself a moderate liberal. I certainly lean to the liberal side of thinking. As for passion, there I am also willing to explore the wild side (if we get that far)! I think that sums me up and shares a little bit about me. While I am mature in the right setting (i.e. I use common sense), I am still a kid at heart in many ways and will likely always be that way to some degree (at least I hope so).

Optimally, I am looking for someone who has some common interests, but also has some things that they like to do on their own. There should be a balance in all things. Chemistry is a must and I can't put a finger on how to figure that one out, sometimes you just know.

I wonder if when I see other profiles I will think back to what I just wrote and think... what was I thinking????

A first date should give both of us a chance to meet, spend some time with each other and have some opportunity to chat a bit and to share something that will hopefully be memorable. It could be a nice restaurant, a movie, a walk on the beach... or all three! Whatever it ends up being, it is more important about who you are with than what you do.
