I'm from South Africa who lived and studied in Australia for 4 years and have been living in NY the last 2 years! I love it here, but I feel like I fit in anywhere... First dates are sooo exciting. I guess you want to do something where you both would feel comfortable. Dinner is the classic, and it's always a treat to dine out in New York. A bar is good if you think you may need a quick getaway (lol). Doing something non-traditional like playing putt-putt, bowling or pool is a fun deal maker, since you're in a casual relaxed environment to joke around and get to know each other. Seriously though, it's the company that makes the night. As long as both parties feel comfortable the date will go smoothly (in theory anyways)! I like a guy who is assertive in decision making.
