About Me
I just want to meet up with some people who might see things the same way I do, and even if they don't then at least see it in a way that gets me excited. I am just wanting to have more fun, and a lot of my friends don't really like to go out much, so it kind of leaves me on my own. That's all, just a decent guy looking for more decent friends to do anything from just meeting for a drink or some grub and conversation,or even just going to catch a movie or something. Pretty simple! All I can ask is for them to be level headed, but at least have some dreams you are wanting to chase. Just don't be a downer or some untrustworthy person. I've had my share and don't want anymore. People like that rub off on me, and it takes too much to realize that it's not fun to be dragged to that level.
Music... Well, I like a little bit in every genre. Less Rap and more classic rock please. How about I just name a few bands I am really digging on right now, and you can judge for yourself: Social Distortion, Face to Face, George Strait, Alkaline Trio, Bayside, Chris Ledoux, Belle & Sebastian, Coheed and Cambria, The Dead Weather, Daniel Johnston, The Replacements, Oingo Boingo and Bad Religion.
Some of my favorite books/authors are "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman, Chuck Palahniuk et-almost-all with "Choke" and "Survivor" being my favorites and "Snuff" being my least, Tom Clancy, Stephen Kings "Dark Tower" series (not done, on 4), Louis L'amour's westerns, "Heart of Darkness" by Stephen Conrad, currently working on Ayn Rands' "Atlas Shrugged." Elmore Leonard is the next author I will set my eyes on once "Atlas" is done.
As far as TV goes, I don't watch a whole lot, really. There isn't a series on right now that I absolutely have to watch. I am more into movies. There are too many to list, but I have always loved foreign and indie films, but not to the extent of being a movie snob. I will watch nearly anything to get a fair judgement. Some movies I have seen in the last year or so and really enjoyed are "Where the Wild Things Are," "The Wrestler," "500 Days of Summer," "Moon," "Zack and Miri," "Choke," "Adventureland," and "No Country for Old Men." Going further back, movies such as "Pee-Wees Big Adventure" and "Stand By Me" are amongst a couple of my faves. Have you ever seen "Battle Royale?" It's another good one. Acquired taste!
As far as schooling goes, I am going to start in the spring, finally... Finally. I just want to do it for myself. My main goal right now is just trying to get everything straightened out and making the best out of whatever I can.
First Date
I think just grabbing a cup of coffee or a drink of another color, and just talking is the best thing. Save the movies for the 2nd meeting. I mean, if you were able to find a movie where there would be nobody else in the theater allowing the 2 of us to watch it MST3K style, then by all means, it might be alright. Basically, anything that would allow us to talk and at least see if there is a friendship there.
