I would like him NOT to be: looking for 1 night stands, self-absorbed or shallow, selfish or stingy, an immature spoiled prick, demanding/nag or nitpicky, control freak, disrespectful/rude, bad tempered, have any horrible mood swings, a liar, and should not have any ex-girlfriend baggage-please look elsewhere.

He should be loving, understanding, considerate, respectful, reliable and trustworthy, is sweet and kind. Supportive, someone who genuinely believes in me and brings out my best. Capable of sharing and handling conflict without fighting/bitterness. He looks for more than physical attraction, he will find a bestfriend in me too. He should treat me fairly and equally, not trying to make me his mother figure or a maid. Talkative and interesting is absolutely great but do make room for listening when needed. Creative and passionate is fun and exciting. He must be wonderful in both private and social settings. Someone who brings me peace, good sense of humor, great smiles, and hugs. He must have good intentions in working together to develop a wonderful relationship and be a fantastic life partner. If he is handy and a better cook than I am that would be a plus!

Six things I personally learned about love so far:
1) If your heart is open love will find you. It draws you in naturally beyond logic.

2) The older you get the harder it is to allow yourself to have/keep it. Why? Because the older you are the more set you are in your ways; more inflexible to compromise or grow in acceptance of another individual's differences. Result: Keep/stay in love with yourself b/c unless you accept that another individual will always bring their quirks/differences/imperfections, you will end up going back to being lonely. Sharing your life with a special and wonderful, yet slightly imperfect/flawed person does make life seem and feel better with them in it than without him/her in it. There is no perfect human being out there you will probably waste more lonely years thinking so.

3) When you feel it, express it. Don't hold love back, it's not worth it-your pride, make sure the person you love does actually know it. Don't count tabs about how much more you do for that person it'll make you seem like you only did it to gain something in return. Be selfless when you do something for the one you love so that person can truly appreciate and not feel your act was superficial. Loving someone should feel unconditional.

4) It takes equal effort and work to keep it going, exciting and lasting. If it was easy we'd all have it. Don't take it for granted, shut it down or let it slip away if (s)he means that much to you. Give your love and attention before someone else does.

5) Keep it honest and real- it makes it worth living for. Never start a relationship based on selfish, greedy and shallow circumstances.

6) It's important to find ways to handle conflict WITHOUT fighting the person you want to keep in your life. If you communicate respectfully being careful with words and tone, your loved one is likely to make every effort to change/improve and please you. Blame is usually a losing game, seek solutions instead. Careless, harmful, insulting or violent tendencies will make the other person feel unloved and give up on you (fair enough? yep). Don't punish the person you love, especially when you TRUST they are not out to hurt or upset you intentionally. You will be punishing yourself if you decide to be cruel and self-centered. Personally, showing someone you are sorry (being sorry) is more important than saying it.

Just a really good and bright man that knows we're both on a journey to fill the void (think Jerry Maguire "you complete me" haha) so we can be the best as we can be; to find our balance/our center in our lives and so we can work together to be the best for each other while creating something fulfilling and fantastic! ~~~
