It is beyond belief someone has already registered the user name “Zooch.”

I am looking to meet new people. The bar scene was never really my thing and work relationships usually aren't a good idea. My preference would be to meet someone to hang out with at first and if anything else develops, great; if not, oh well, it is still nice to meet new people.

I consider myself a successful man with a good heart and good job. My sense of humor is legendary among my less-then-legendary friends, and I will try almost anything once (like skydiving next spring.) I love a good laugh, but am not a prankster or one who is into moronic practical jokes. I don't watch much TV anymore, however my favorite shows are The Simpsons, Futurama, Arrested Development, and other such comedies.

I'm so blessed with a terrific family and enjoy spending time with them. Family life is important to me. Whenever I'm around my step-dad, I find myself saying “I do some of the stupidest stuff with you.” There are too many examples to list, but they are always fun, and rather odd. I am also a hard worker, actually too hard in the past. I have learned I must balance both. I refuse to work a job that expects more than 40 hours a week. Life is too short.

I enjoy playing with kids. For some reason they see me as a jungle gym. Maybe it has something to do with me tossing them around, letting them wrestle me to the ground, or piggyback rides? Most of my friend's children know me as “Uncle Zooch,” and are crestfallen when they discover that isn't my real name.

My creativity expresses itself in building things, from remodeling a house to constructing small robots. I really enjoy learning how things work. I usually work on my own cars and house, but I know my limitations. To put it another way, I have way too many tools. However I do enjoy visiting art museums, plays, the symphony, and other concerts. I'm not a huge sports fan, but will go to a Royals or Chiefs game occasionally.

Travel really appeals to me. I want to travel more. I love to travel by motorcycle and have taken several trips with my family and had a blast every time. Bike week at Sturgis was all right, but the trips through the mountain passes and Devils Tower was beyond awesome. The motorcycle experience is so liberating. I'm also planning on visiting Japan in the near future to see a friend of mine. Being completely lost in a non-Latin based culture will be scary and fun! There is a lot I want to see before starting to raise a family.

I am a huge fan of Sushi and Thai cuisine. My favorite Sushi place is in the Northland and I happily drive 30 minutes to enjoy it. Fortunately my favorite Thai place is much closer.

I listen to almost anything, but it can't be formulaic, so that excludes most pop music and hip hop. My favorite musical artist is John Williams who wrote the scores to films like Star Wars and Indiana Jones (yes, I know, I'm a nerd.) I also enjoy Ben Folds, Johnny Cash, Rob Zombie, Muse, 90's alt rock, and about anything else within my vocal range. Be aware, I sing along with the radio. I don't play any musical instrument, but I'm considering piano lessons this winter.

A first date really depends on the people involved. It can be as varied as meeting for coffee or a drink, bowling a few frames, walking around the Plaza, Worlds of Fun, dinner, mini-golf, and/or go-cart racing. What matters is having fun, being yourself, and enjoying the other's company. You can learn a lot about a person by witnessing how they handle a nasty 7-10 split, 3 over par, or some middle school punk colliding with their go-cart.
