About Me
I'm a strange and sometimes contradictory beast.
The basics on me, the day-to-day type stuff, are pretty simple. I teach English at ISU. I write and study fiction as a graduate student in a Masters of Fine Arts Program. Previously, I served in Americorps Vista and ran after school poetry groups for at-risk youth. After I finish here I plan on either doing the altruistic thing and going for my PhD in Irish Literature, or the pragmatic and going for my J. D. in Health Law/Bioethics. I lift weights and run regularly. I read all the time. I'm a vegan. I can appreciate avant-garde foreign movies like "Persona" or "Contempt" as much as I can those like "Wall-E" or "The Departed." Music, the outdoors, animals, humans, books--all these things inspire me. I'm interested in just about everything. I'm a rather quiet person with deep convictions about a hell of a lot. I laugh frequently, and, typically, at myself. I don't drink much, but I still like to go out and hang in bars with friends.
I can enjoy just about anything: reading, writing, listening to music, exercising, spending time outdoors, indie movies, plays--the works. Really, it's the company that matters.I nosh on Indian, Thai, and health food. Music: indie rock, punk, celtic, and underground rap. As for movies, I like almost anything so long as it's good. Fight Club, Departed, Seventh Seal, About a Boy, Sin City, and Requiem for a Dream are great.I read all the time. Every day. Currently on "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace and "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky. My favorite authors are Cormac McCarthy, Hemingway, Faulkner, F. O'Connor, Joyce, D. Thomas, Auden, Dan Chaon, many, many more.
Once I have the time to, I plan on adopting every dog that anyone has ever given up on.
Shoot me a message if you feel like getting to know one another.
First Date
Like I said, I like doing almost anything--coffee, going to museums, concerts, hiking.
