I'm in my third year at McMaster pursuing two concurrent degrees; one in arts & Science, and a combined honours in political science and social work. I plan on going to graduate school, but first I want to get my hands dirty and work with people instead of theories. International development is a field I'm particularly interested in, and I'd like to do some work along those lines at some point in my life.

John Stuart Mill wrote "it is better to be a human dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied". I think he was right. The more I learn, I'm coming up with more questions than answers, and seeing more injustice than I ever wanted to know about. If I have one life ambition, it's to never lose my curiosity, or the drive to see that something is wrong and try to make it right. Money and status are secondary to a life that has improved that of many others, and borne much wisdom.

I teach martial arts part-time, and it's the best job in the world. I really like longer distance running and do some weight training here and there. For me, a healthy body is a necessary condition for a healthy mind. I'm part of a few organizations on-campus that promote acceptance of diversity, because I think everyone, no matter who they are or where they come from, should have equal opportunity to fulfill their potential. I tell the kids I teach that a rainbow wouldn't be beautiful if it were only one colour; similarly, it takes different kinds of people to make a community beautiful. (Yea, I'm cheesy like that.)

I'm also a vegetarian. One guy sent me a message saying "You don't eat meat? You wouldn't even eat MINE?!" That's not a very attractive message to get.

I'm a pretty laid-back person, but when there's a job to do I get it done. I'm brutally honest: not just about the things that would get me an appreciative applause at a wine & cheese party, but everything. Life's too short to put on a show; if you don't like me for who I am, then let's just agree to disagree and pursue our separate paths to greatness. (Yea, I'm cheesy like that).

I pride myself in being a person who does the right thing and doesn't let people down, and that drives pretty much all the decisions I make. But this account is just a small thing I'm doing for me. A partner has to inspire me - in order to do that, you'll have to be smart, and healthy. A relationship of any kind, Platonic or otherwise, it needs to be 50/50.
