About Me
First of all: The reason why I am here is that between work and art, I never have the time to get out. I don't like the idea of "shopping" for people, but if this virtual world gets me out there meeting people in the real world, then I'd be a fool not to give it a shot.
I don't really have any hobbies but I've been making art since I was tiny. Not really lucrative with this, but I do it mostly because it calms me down and helps keep me happy. I don't eat animals. I ride a bike. I recycle. But I try not to preach and tell people what is right and wrong. I'm making an effort to believe that human beings will get things figured out. I believe that you cannot survive if you lose hope. But yall need to keep your sense of humor also or else everything falls apart.
I read a lot. I just started Guns, Germs and Steel and I don't understand why it is so controversial. Some of my favorite books: Catch-22, Sometimes a Great Notion, Invisible Man, The Catcher in the Rye, The Brothers Karamazov and anything by Cormac McCarthy.
Goals? Live without hurting anyone. Build something of value for the people I leave behind. Find happiness and peace for those around me and I. That sort of thing. Short-term goals: Go back to school/get a better job/pay off student loans.
Music is very important to me. I've been listening to a lot of Boards of Canada, Deerhunter, Lindstrom and those new remastered Beatles albums lately. I also love Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Orbital, Tom Waits, The Clash, Wire, Beachwood Sparks, AIR, Arcade Fire, Battles, The Kinks, Blonde Redhead, Blur, Department of Eagles, Grizzly Bear, Dosh, Tortoise, Elvis, Fleetwood Mac, Fugazi, Gal Costa, Gang of Four, Joanna Newsome, Johnny Cash, John Lennon, Juana Molina, King Crimson, LCD Soundsystem, M.I.A., Massive Attack, Portishead, The Ruby Suns, Sigur Ros, Bjork, Spiritualized, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Yo La Tengo and the Black Lips. I like to dance to some of this stuff. Oh! And that new Flaming Lips album is pretty great.
Movies: Just saw Where the Wild Things Are--loved it. On that note I like Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman a lot. 2001 is my favorite of all time and I love all of Kubrick's stuff. I like Akira Kurosawa a great deal. Children of Men is an underrated and important movie. (I'm getting tired of adding stuff so I hope you get the idea.)
Something else I should say: I know there are a lot of perverts on this website and girls have overflowing mail-boxes so I don't see the point in sending you a bunch of messages. I understand if you don't feel like responding or don't get around to it. If you are interested in talking, send me a message. If not, you won't be harassed.
Thanks for reading.
First Date
A first date? Just getting out of my routine would be nice all by itself. Not that I'm boring, you just get locked in. I know I don't drink-it's not because I am a dork, (well, I AM a dork, but...), but because it makes me sick. However: I still like going to bars. Either way, the art museums are my favorite places to be. I cook food for a living so I don't usually go out for food, but I have had my best conversations over a meal out...There's also this crazy temple my friend told my about way up north that I want to check out. I guess I'm open to anything as far as a "date" goes.
