I'm never good at talking about myself - I don't know if that's weird or not. Anyways - I've been divorced a little over a year, and my 9-year old daughter lives with me. She and I are really close, she's a bit of a Mini-Me. We love going out to movies, or to Stars games (her new favorite activity), or just vegging at home and watching a movie together. Oh, and Six Flags during the summer is an absolute must ... we love our rollercoasters!

When I do have time for myself, I like going out - but since most of my friends are married, it's not always easy finding people to go do things. Even getting people together for a Happy Hour after work on a Friday can be a true exercise in futility! I read (a lot!), mostly for grad school but also just because I love to read. I've already mentioned movies, of course. Beyond that, I'm open to try most things (within reason!) at least once. A day at the zoo is a great way to spend a day! Travel is something I'd like to do more of down the road as well.

Although I'm committed to my career, it doesn't consume my life (most of the time). I'm lucky enough to have an amazing job and a flexible schedule. There are times, however that I'll have to check email constantly during projects. Otherwise, I may check email a couple of times during the evening, or just unplug completely.

Well now ... first dates are always such potential minefields. I definitely wouldn't pick a movie as a first "real" date. The whole point is to get to know each other. The standard fallback of "Let's meet for Happy Hour" isn't always a good choice either - but the people watching is all kinds of fun. A sporting event as a first date is an option, but again - there's something else that you're focusing on - and not one another, so probably not my first choice.

I'd probably pick something like an evening doing wine tasting and dinner, or perhaps brunch on a Sunday. A trip to the Dallas Museum of Art, the Zoo or the Arboretum might be fun too. I don't really have a set list of activities - but a meal of some sort and a casual activity such as those above would be where my thinking takes me.
