Most of my hobbies are tied to my job - I'm a history/government teacher, so I go to lectures, keep up with current events and am always looking for opportunities to learn interesting things. I enjoy museums, travel, and Ken Burns documentaries (haha). However, I also went to a big ten school and LOVE college football (Go Blue!) going out with a good group of friends, laughing (usually at myself), getting out of town for fun weekend trips, skiing in the winter and going to the beach or a lake for the summer. Live music, also, is one of my biggest "passions." I am always up for going to a show or even just out to catch some band at a local bar.

My goals in life right now are to be good at what I do and enjoy doing it. I'm working on both. Teaching is hard but rewarding work, most of the time, anyway! Ultimately, I believe it's an incredibly important job - and worth the effort - so I'm sticking with it and embracing my 20's as my broke and overworked phase.

I guess I'm unique because I'm really focused on people. I am very close with my family and friends, so I wanted a career where personal relationships are valued. I try to value people in everything I do, but I also have really high standards for others because of that. I don't tolerate disrespectful behavior from others, even if it isn't directed at me. Whether that looks like a person being rude to waitstaff or making snide comments about someone else's culture or religion - I'll call you on it. If you are looking for a meek or silent partner, well, I may not be for you. This sounds strange in this day and age but all in all, I want to meet someone who I could be proud of, stand by, and call a good man.

Music taste is varied. I can appreciate different genres, but favorite bands include Wilco, Pete Yorn, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Guster, Phoenix, The d*mnwells, Ben Folds, Bloc Party, Radiohead, Spoon, Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeppelin, U2 ... essentially the music library of XRT and Q101 combined.

A first date is really about the person. Going all out with a beautiful dinner and dancing won't really matter if there isn't a genuine connection. I'm perfectly happy with a drink at a pub around the corner if there's thoughtful effort behind it. Let's do something we would both enjoy.
