About Me
So how did I get to be 40 and single? Well - looks around sheepishly - I've been enjoying a lot of "me" time. I've got a Ph.D. and an upper-level black belt, both of which have been extraordinarily satisfying to pursue and achieve. Not being tied down, I've also had the freedom to live in Paris and London for brief periods of time. But as all of my friends are now firmly ensconced in relationships, some new/some old, I've finally come up for air and realized that it's not all about me. Great epiphany to have, you know? Even if a bit delayed. My friends, whom I love dearly, are also getting on my single-self case. And I thank them for doing it. It gets very easy to be single, sometimes.

Here's my life as it is: I work, I avoid work, I teach Taekwondo, I avoid Taekwondo, I hang out with friends, and I usually don't try to avoid them. Here's my life as I would like it to be: doing all of the above, but with a partner who has his own world and who wouldn't mind meeting in the middle. Looking for a long term? Sure, but that's putting a lot of pressure on one profile, so I'm looking to date for a bit first.

My personality? More pub than club. I enjoy chilling out with friends - with or without alcoholic enhancements. I'm no smoker and don't really enjoy the smell - or the taste, but I don't throw stones about it, either. I can be a bit lazy, although clearly I justify this as "chilling out." Chilling out can be watching the t.v., going for a walk, hitting the art museum or the movie theater or the theater theater. I don't consider myself a hugely high maintenance person: I don't have a high tolerance for either mania or depression, but I do accept that everyone's got their quirks, including myself. I tend to be attracted to men who are more middle of the road personality wise - happiness, contentment, and a wry sense of humor go a very long way.

Full disclosure in the looks department. I'm tall(ish) at 5'9". I *used* to be skinny and extremely athletic. Now I'm no contender for Biggest Loser (by a long shot), but I'm not willing to put in the 7 days a week that I used to when I competed in martial arts. I don't have a ton of issues about it, but if you're a totally visual guy - and I'm not saying that's a bad thing, it's just maybe not my thing. I'm looking for the same: someone who cares about health and yes, appearance, but isn't heading off on the weekends for those double centuries (yes, I dated Bike Guy at one point) and expecting me to look like I do the same. But for Bike Guy street cred purposes, I did actually get to see Lance Armstrong ride along the Champs Elysees three times. ... Tschah ... Let's all see how long this part of my profile stays up ... results pending.

I am totally in love with my nieces and nephews. I don't have any kids of my own, but could see myself with a couple. I don't mind if you've got kids from a previous relationship (but NOT a current one, please). I don't do married guys ... at all.

Music? Eclectic. Currently on Pandora: Gogol Bordello, Drop Kick Murphys, Simon & Garfunkel, Big Mama Thorton, and Edith Piaf. Go figure.

Now, I clearly should have read through a couple of profiles before writing this. I've written A LOT, but there's more to know. Drop a line if you're interested and let's see what happens. And, yes, I know that my photo screams "Mo discovered her iMac's photo option," and that would be true, but this is at least what I look like this week.

First Date
Who knows? I'm not terrifically romantic, although I could be wooed to the side of pink roses, I suppose. I personally think that candlelit dinners can be a little stressful for first dates. So ... Meet at the art museum or the Contemporary or do a gallery crawl on Washington? Meet at the City Museum (best place EVER, and I'm 40, for God's sake)? Meet at the zoo? Meet up at your favorite pub? I'm a killer trivia partner, I'm just saying. Go to a football game or a sports bar to watch one?

yoyomo has 2 roses that can be sent.
