I love meeting new people, and like to have an active social schedule on week nights when I'm home in Bellingham. However, I travel often - sometimes two or three weeks out of a month. That's this fits in: I don't have enough time to join a club to meet new people, and I can get my email nearly everywhere.

I have more in common with women than men. I don't like cars and I don't like sport, so that rules out two of three potential conversations with men. The other topic is typically 'drinking', and that crosses gender barriers.

Weeknights with friends often involve dinner or drinks, conversation, music, movies, and games. If I've been somewhere interesting there is frequently a narrated slide show. Weekends are for outdoors activities, and with winter coming on, I'd like to go to Mt. Baker with friends.

Definitions for the curious:
"Separated": due to the sorry state of health care in America, we're separated. My ex has custody of the children and it'd be irresponsible for her not to have health care.
"Do you have children": nearly every Saturday and Sunday, and the occasional weeknight.
"Friends": because I'd like to have more people in my life to do things with.

"What you would do for a first date". I've been out to meet new people - over coffee (Adagio) or a glass of wine (Temple) or a pint (Boundary) - and have learned they thought we were out on a date. No, going out for a casual drink doesn't make it a date. However, it's a reliable way of meeting new people from the internet.
