About Me
I'm divorced and well-adjusted about it; I've worked my baggage down to one small, self-contained carry-on. I have a balanced and holistic big-picture outlook on life. I'm very laid-back and work hard to remain drama-free. I'm eclectic, quirky and mildly sarcastic and mocking, but also self-aware, which means I can laugh at myself, when I am not laughing at you. It also appears that I am a fan of hyphens.
I enjoy hiking, photography and yoga (and lots of other things, but this is supposed to be brief). I can cook very well, but I especially like it when a man cooks (and also cooks well). I am not a vegetarian, despite others' assumption that I am (I really don't know why that is). I enjoy both going out and staying home now and then. I believe you can tell a lot about people by the books they read and the music they listen to. My favorite books are: Atlas Shrugged (I promise I can explain why, but only if 1) you've read the book yourself; 2) you know why one might need to give an explanation; and 3) really care about an explanation... that should get me out of 95% of the potential explanation-giving), and the Eddie****ns trilogy (on CD-- mainly written for older kids, but full of lots of silly British-style word play that amuses me, as does the fact that POF just bleeped a book title. -snort- I'm going to try it again: Charles****ns was a great author. Ha! That's a hoot... bleeped on my profile; I'm such a rebel). I listen to and like all kinds of music, except Muzak covers of pop songs. I like 20s-40s era stuff, surf rock, disco, classical, country, electronica, indie, reggae, I'm a closet bluegrass freak, have a crush on Dave Matthews, and giggle whenever I hear 80s glam-metal bands. I can sing along to a ridiculous number of songs, even though I often forget the name or artist. Oddly enough, I dislike karaoke.
I'm looking for someone who's pretty happy with himself and his life, who is excited to see what comes next. I'm pretty independent, so while I'd like our personalities to complement each other, I don't want to "complete" anyone. I just want someone who enjoys my company when we hang out and vice versa. I laugh a lot, often inappropriately (you know, at funerals and at little kids' school pageants). A sense of humor is possibly the most important characteristic anyone can have, in my opinion. It smoothes out an awful lot of rough spots, and there are more than enough times in life that call for seriousness. I myself tend to be too serious sometimes, as most grownups do, so it's important for me to find someone who can remind me to exercise my well-developed sense of humor. I appreciate cleverness, subtlety, goofiness, sarcasm, wittiness and even the occasional and well-timed juvenile humor.
I don't want a husband, nor am I looking for casual hookups. I'm just looking to see what there is to see. It seems to be a sea of McProfiles so far, so my expectations are low. Surprise me! :)
