Here comes the hard part... talking about yourself so that others think favorably.. might I say "yuck". Okay, here goes... The marriage lasted 27 years. I've been out here on my own for 4 years learning about being a single female at my age, and in this day and time. What have I learned? Well, I've learned I enjoy being me. I have an up-beat, happy personality and I'm happy with that. I have lots of great friends, 2 wonderful grown daughters, a job I enjoy and am fortunate to work with people I also count as friends. I have a great relationship with God. I have been truly blessed.

After 4 years of time alone, dating, and self exploration, I've come to one conclusion... I enjoy having a significant other. I don't have to have someone to complete me, but I miss having someone to share lifes little ups and down, someone to cook for/with, someone to look up to, someone to spoil shamelessly, you know what I mean... that someone that when you see each other, wrap your arms around each other, and you know everything will be okay. Oh, well, maybe I'm a sappy romantic, but I remember having that and I very much want that again.

I am a lady looking for a man who remembers how to be a real man... the old school way of life. I know all about womens lib, but I was raised where men treated their women with respect, held chairs, opened doors... you know what I mean. Chivalry does come with reward. Beaming smiles, light banter, flirting over the dinner table, a quick kiss as you pass each other, making him proud to be a man and even prouder be with me.

New relationships are like a gift at Christmas.... you look at the gift, size it up, start guessing about it, trying to develop an opinion. Slowly you begin to peel back the tape. As the tape is removed the paper begins to open and the gift inside begins to reveal itself. You enjoy the feel of it as you slowly unwrap it. Once you have taken the time to enjoy the experience of opening the gift, the gift is even more special.

This relationship would be one of caring, giving, sharing, lots of hand holding, touching, walking arm-in-arm. There is no shame in being seen by the world and they know without a doubt that they are seeing to people who care for each other. Just because we're not kids any more doesn't mean we can't sometimes act like it.

There is a difference between a first "date" and a first "meet".

First meets will always be in a public place where we can both feel comfortable and safe. Whether it is for coffee, a drink, or dinner... Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, Olive Garden... First meets are just that a meeting to finally say hello face to face and check for that chemistry (and that the photo was real [lol]).

First dates I will typically ask my date to decide, unless we have already discussed something we wanted to do during the get acquainted email/phone phase. My personal opinion is that a first date should be doing something that will allow you to show who you are and what you're about. Major opinions are formed so it is an important step. Whether it is a lunch date, or dinner... dinner and a movie.... just a movie.... an evening of dancing at TJs... A hike on a trail you really like on a weekend afternoon... The decision will probably be yours. I'm happy to provide input, but as mentioned earlier, I like a man who has an opinion and can make a decision for himself....but it is nice to be asked for input.
