I love good conversation and lots of laughter in my life. My sense of humor tends to be dry and sarcastic, and I enjoy battles of wits. I am a voracious reader, and have a nasty habit of re-reading favorite books over and over! Love to play scrabble and other board games, but my chess skills are sadly out of shape from lack of practice. I am considering going back to school (again), maybe for something in the IT field. I can enjoy just about any genre of movie, as long as it has a good story to back it up - action or horror flicks that are too light on plot tend to bore me, though. I love music, both recorded and live, of almost all kinds, except maybe gangsta rap. I can enjoy myself equally at the symphony or opera (Beethoven and Menotti are favorites) or a rock concert, or a bluegrass or celtic festival. I love the United Kingdom and Ireland, and have an especially soft spot in my heart for men with Scots/British accents. Kilt wearers welcome! :>)

I would rather have an active first date than a sit down dinner/movie. I find that it is easier to talk and get to know someone while doing something rather than with a mouth full of food. So, mini-golf or a museum/gallery, even a renaissance or some other kind of outdoor festival would be good - anything that provides conversational fodder.
