I'm the kind of guy that would rather walk around the city and find new cool places for a CD, a snack, or coffee than stay home. I love to interact with people and friends. I love to explore. I find that I appreciate small gestures and moments more than big events. The smirk of the person who is trying not to laugh out loud at a joke. The smile of a toddler that figured out how to escape mom and dad. Finding out that my favorite cafe has that double chocolate cookie left which was 80% of the reason I went there in the first place.

I enjoy languages and have learned French pretty well in my younger years. Several years back I took a class in Hindi too for fun. I can't speak it, but the exposure was fun. I enjoy learning new things. I like to create things too. I grew up with craftsmen and feel quite at ease making things for home, or dinner, or something different like a web site. Foreign films are fun and different. I love a blockbuster too. I don't really watch tv and don't currently own one. I may buy one in the future but there's no rush.

Instead I listen to music a lot. I keep it on in the house frequently and nearly always in the car. The Beatles, Modest Mouse, some French music (Solaar, Diams) and a bunch of random stuff is always in rotation.

A great first date means we spoke first on the phone and had a fun, intelligent and engaging conversation. From there I did some looking around based on our mutual interests to find a fun but casual place to meet in the city where we could see the world around us, have a drink and order something exotic and spicy to eat. Maybe the Ahi tuna tare tare, maybe Indian food chaat. So many possibilities.

So I call her back and tell her I'd really like to meet her in the coming week and that I had a couple ideas for things to do. She says yes (I hope). We meet. I remember laughing more than I remember what I ate. I might already be thinking about the next fun place to go. Maybe we go for a walk. Maybe we get a coffee. If it's a really great date, we have another hour to spend before the restaurant closes and the staff is happily letting us talk as they clean everything but our table.
