About Me
"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two."-from the movie "Captain Corelli's Mandolin".

Hi I'm Phill. I've been described as being humble, hard working, pleasant company, and easy to fall in love with. I'm a handy guy so I can fix anything from a clogged sink to patching a roof. As far as fun loving, well fun is what you make it. I can have fun going out to a club, rollerblading in the park, or helping someone paint a bedroom some warm exotic color. The people around me like my quick wit (tend to get into "dry" jokes and puns), the enjoyment is further elevated with the company of the person I'm involved with.

When it comes to Love, I've always felt that the love we feel is not a process we share with another person, but the euphoric feelings we experience when we are with that person. One of the benefits we get when being involved with someone. People have a problem with saying, "I love you" to another because we really don't (It's just as easy to say, "I don't love you anymore."), it would be more truthful to tell the other person that we love being with them, a part of their life. Two people have to really put some effort in making a relationship work, A devotion and a commitment to make each others life special, that's the shared experience! Compassion, empathy, understanding, forgiveness, tenderness...that's what tells the other person how you feel about them. That's their gift from you! It's a need to be needed. We don't share love....we share ourselves.

All two people have to do is look at each others face to see how their partner feels about them. I melt when I know your smile is only meant for me.

I'm realistic, at the age group I'm in, I know I'm not going to be able to develop a relationship with someone who is "drop dead" gorgeous. I see myself being involved with someone who is pleasant to look at, maybe able to turn a few heads(isn't it funny how as a couple grows older, adoring each other, they see each other in the image of the first time they "fell in love"). Sorry but that's life, a good looking couple has advantages. It may sound vain, but who would you want to be seen with? Let's forget about what I desire, what about you? I believe you're the sensible type, you want to be with someone who is pretty much even with you on the "attractiveness" scale. Someone who takes care of himself and appearance to keep an attractive women. A guy you can be proud to be seen with. A person who you'd love to have pictures taken with every time you pass one of those photo booths. Why would you settle for less?

Admit it, you'd love to be walking next to YOUR MAN and watching as other women take quick glances at him... Oh come on, yes you do! Like a diamond, you can't resist showing him off. I won't have to see if it's happening, I can tell every time you hang onto my arm in public.

As far as personality, what I desire is someone with some "smarts", the ability to communicate, somewhat an independent spirit (not too "clingy"), not afraid to display affection in public (is a little playful), self-confident, and can show humility in that she is very down to earth and as realistic about issues as I am. I've learned that kindness gets a person a great distance, acknowledgment of special efforts, praise for going that extra mile brings forth a reaction that satisfies both parties in a relationship.

Disappointment is the distance between expectations and reality. Sometimes what we get isn't necessarily what we're hoping for...but something better.

What is compatibility? Men and women are different right? Their brains are not wired the same. It's the differences between you and the one you choose to be with -- not the similarities -- that keep you close, believe it or not. So embrace and respect the fact that you two don't always agree! Sure, you may not believe those who hold different views, but you should always believe in your loved one! Harmony doesn't happen when all notes are the same, it happens when different notes come together and create a beautiful sound. Love the music that you two make. As long as the differences aren't totally out of line, there's balance in the relationship. "Fit", the "kiss", the way it feels to be in each others' arms, it starts there. Wouldn't you agree that a "great kisser" can melt your heart? You would mine. The hug gives comfort and the feeling of security within the bond. So differences adds balance and harmony to the relationship and "fit" is what keeps a man and a woman together. Remember; The way I see it, you're somebody's wife (just consider it, what the future might hold.).

Listen, we both want the same thing. We enter from two different doorways and we have to maneuver around obstacles to first reach a common ground then a common goal.

So, where am I going with this? I'm not sure whether it's a cry for companionship or a statement that people need to start thinking about what being in a relationship means. But, Life is too short to see if something better comes along (What legacy will you leave behind?). The longer one waits, well, let's say time catches up with all of us. "Love" is a journey (compare it to your daily drive). It's much more pleasant when you carpool. I don't want to waste anymore time and I like to see my beloved's eyes as my last sight when I'm called from this earth. If the world ended tomorrow, whose arms will you be in?

1 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3-7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.-1 Corinthians 13 (The Message)

First Date
Best way to get to know someone is to connect by messages. The first date should be memorable. Seems a little impersonal to just meet over a cup of coffee. If a couple is meant to be, then focusing their attention on each other is enhanced by an intimate location. A nice dinner in a quaint spot not only allows food for the body...but feeds the heart also. Then perhaps a nitecap, somewhere close, maybe a piano bar or parking somewhere, looking at the stars with a bottle of wine and Harry Connick Jr. playing in the CD player. Just a place where we can gaze at each other, talk, and savor the moment.
