First dates can be awkward.... movies are nice, but there's not time to talk. However, the ice cream parlor after the movies is good. Now you not only get to talk, but you have a starting topic....the movie. I find this an easy way to slide into more conversation about each other. You find out what kinds of movies you each like, and this progresses into what other things you like, which moves you right into what kind of person each of you is. Now doesn't that take the edge off.

I also think walks are a good start. No pressure, just pure relaxed conversation. Maybe stop for a soda, or coffee. Keep it simple, carefree. Get goofy and silly. Remember, this is a first date.....just like when we were kids.
