About Me
Brutal Honesty!!! Why you shudder? Because the truth will always hurt less than a lie!
My mom raised her boys to be able to cook, clean and take care of themselves. She said her boys would only need a woman for one thing and they could do that themselves, but they would get bored. No, it isn’t as harsh as it sounds. She wanted us to be able to take care of ourselves and not feel that we needed a woman to take care of us.
So, first and foremost…I am a father. A very proud father, of a wonderful young man, whom just entered the teenage years. Therefore, you have to like kids. I do not care if you want any of your own or not. We are a package deal and you have to be right for the both of us!
I do not care for the first date/interview that seems to occur every time you meet someone. So, I have decided to lay a few things out in hopes that it cuts out any uncertainty. What are the great conversational taboo’s…
Religion…I do not consider myself a religious person. I view myself as very spiritual. I grew up with a Native American influence in my life. I have also traveled to numerous places throughout the world and had the opportunity to become familiar with the cultures and religions of my surroundings. I have respect for all faiths and tend to believe that no one is any better (or worse) than another. In my opinion, we are all trying to get to the same place in the end…some of us just take a different road to get there than others.
Politics…I am neither and Democrat or a Republican. Yes, I do vote and feel very passionate about voting. I feel if you do not take the time and opportunity to vote, you have noting to complain about when it comes to politics. Yes, most of the time it is just a process of picking the lesser of the two evils. I tend to research the candidates and choose the one that best suites my interest, no matter what their party affiliation. This also brings me to a very passionate point. I am a veteran. Soldiers are some of the greatest people in the world and deserve all of our support and respect. No matter what you party affiliation or even you thoughts on the current affairs in the world. They are just doing their jobs, one which many of them did not ask for.
Social Vices…I drink, mostly socially, but I do not have an issue with having a night cap in the evenings. I do not care for drunks, lushes or straight up alcoholics. I have little to no tolerance for drugs, this does include nicotine.
Build…I consider myself to be Average and the sales lady at old Navy said so as well ;-) I feel that I, like many Americans, could stand to shape up and shed a few pounds. I am hoping that my recent gym membership helps with this. I am not the person I was 10 years ago, but hell who is?
Interest…Just for the record, this is not an inclusive list. Anything with my son is on the top of the list. I will admit that I hate the heat and humidity. I still enjoy some outdoor activities, but prefer not to do any of them in a miserable climate. I do enjoy hiking, rock climbing (though it has been a while), canoeing/kayaking, rollerblading (although it can be a comical sight). I am not a fan of swimming in anything that I cannot see my surroundings. Whether it is fresh or salt water…there is the possibility of something with teeth in there that is hungry. Hell, after watching Jaws when I was 8, I still check the pool at my condo before I get in. I like entertainment with cultural value. Whether it is a movie, a play, the theater, the museum, or a casual board game over coffee at a local café. I love motorcycles, but my current bike is a never ending project bike that it appears my grandchildren will enjoy. I enjoy sports, but my favorite sports are not mainstream sports. I love hockey and enjoy soccer. I prefer college sports, over most professional sports (excluding baseball of course…my son and I love a good baseball game. I enjoy live music and have varied musical taste. I also love stand up comedy. I also understand most women love dancing...Yet I am very aware of how "white" I am. Therefore, I am man enough to know my limits...I can totally do the rhythmic shoulder movement and the white boy over-bite. I know, it is sooo hot to imagine...control yourself. I'm not that kinda guy...O.K., sometimes I am, but does that make me a bad person???
My Type…I hate when someone starts talking about their type…what the hell does that mean anyway? If you have truly found your type, you would be with them and not out here looking around for whom that might be! However, I do realize we all have preferences. Aside from a man saying he wants to meet a woman whom is a lady on the street and a freak between the sheets (as the old song goes). Hell, who doesn’t, but there is more important things in life and relationships than sex. Intelligence is a must. I want to meet someone with whom I can have an intellectual conversation with. Humor is a must! My favorite saying is, “Don’t take life so seriously…It isn’t permanent!”. I think confidence is the sexiest thing in the world (do not get this confused with ego, these are two very different things). However, let's not overlook hygiene. I love someone whom take pride in themselves and smells great...growl!!! I think of myself as a person that can be comfortable and fit into a variety of situations and would like to meet someone of that same quality. I do not care for high maintenance, houty-touty women whom feel they are better than everyone else out there. Nor do I want to meet anyone with whom I feel I have to compete with their daddy. If he is so perfect and you love him so much, move back in at home and enjoy your life. I am looking for a partner to share my life, not a dependent for whom I have to live my life for! Distance can even be negotiable, for the right person. Luckily, Gainesville is within an hour & a half from numerous great locations. In closing, I have had more terrible relationships than any one person should have to endure. I tend to be a little guarded. I have a lot to offer the right women, providing there is one left out there.
I am sure there is more, but I do not care to think about it any more at the moment. However, if you have taken the time and effort to read all of this…well, that says a lot about you...like you need a life. I welcome the opportunity to chat with you and who knows we might just click. I hope this helps with my search and gives people an ideal of the type of person that I am. Good luck in each of our searches.
First Date
First dates should be comfortable and full of conversation. I never have understood the dinner and a movie scenario. How in the hell are you suppose to get to know each other in a crowded, oh yeah...shhh, everyone is trying to watch the movie theater? So, whether it is coffee, lunch, a couple drinks or possibly dinner...the environment should be conducive to a relaxing atmosphere and a comfortable open chat. By the end of it, you should know if you would care to speak more in the future or you should say thank you for the evening and just move on. If you don't click, don't waste each others time...there has to be chemistry!!! Remember, "Don't take life so seriously, it's not permanent!"
