Hello there. Welcome to my little corner of the web. Right about now I’m supposed to spout out some inane clichés designed to convince women that I am a man who can offer them whatever they desire no matter how paradoxical the wishes. I’d regale them with tales of how after a night of being a rugged manly man, hewing blocks of wood for the campfire with my bare hands, I’d recite sonnets I’d composed about their incomparable beauty. I’d be a financial rock who would provide a comfortable lifestyle and save for our future together, while lavishing you with copious amounts of extravagant gifts. I’d subtly (or in some cases not so subtly) hint that I could offer them a life of complete fulfillment, if only they’d let me in their pants.

Although that last statement is completely true in my case, and I wholeheartedly endorse the idea that you should let me in your pants, rather than typing out the meaningless clichés that would make my profile like every other one, I’m going to try a completely different tact...honesty. I know it’s a radical idea, but I thought I’d give it a go.

I’m a fairly straight forward guy who you’ll get to know fairly quickly, but I’ll still surprise you months later with some of my quirks. Here are examples of a few:

I’m equally comfortable discussing geopolitics, string theory, or how Dinobot and Vegeta are made of pure awesome.

In most social settings I’m fairly quiet or reserved and am content doing more listening than talking, but on a Cuban beach with a group of attractive women who coyly ask “You up for a skinny” I’m in the water naked before they can say “dip”.

I’m a professional making six figures a year, but still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.

I’m a man’s man who is strong enough to lift you and two of your friends and would feel absolutely no compunction in using that strength to brutally crush any man with the audacity to attempt to take the ball/puck away from me, but will spend most family reunions having a tea party with my young nieces or sounding like a complete and utter fool cooing at all the adorable little babies.

As for what I’m looking for on this site, I chose dating simply because I had to choose something and it seemed like a happy medium. Eventually I’d like a long term relationship and would be quite happy if I were to suddenly blunder my way into one, but I’m still young enough that I can afford to have a little fun before settling down. I’m content waiting for my “the one” to come along rather than trying to force anyone into that mould. I also wouldn’t mind meeting a few new friends. I’ve lived in Belleville for over a year now, but don’t know that many people outside of work. My last couple girlfriends have been from Toronto (where I lived previously), so I spend most my weekends there and haven’t really explored much of this town. If anyone wants to give me a tour of places I probably should have already found on my own by now, please feel free.

I realize this is getting quite long, but you’re almost there. Just one last section describing the type of woman I’m hoping to meet. First of all (remember that part way back there about me being honest…here it comes) you must be attractive. If I’m going to spend the rest of my life waking up next to someone, I better enjoy looking at them. I can’t be too specific on what that means because my tastes seem to vary somewhat. I like both blondes and brunettes, outgoing women as well as those more shy and demure, women who are thin or a bit more curvy in the right spots, and race is unimportant. However, if you’re thirty, but look like your fifty, weigh more than I do, or have less teeth than you do fingers, I’m sure you can find a man on here that you will be compatible and happy with. That man just isn’t me. I lead a fairly active life, so you’d need to be a bit independent, however, it’d be nice if you also had a nurturing side to make the time we do spend together special (I am a cuddly man I am).

This depends entirely on where the woman is comfortable. Meeting new people can be a bit of a nervewracking experience for some, so I usually let them choose a location they are familiar and comfortable with. I usually suggest two things when choosing a setting though. Firstly, it should be a place where if things don't go well, things can be ended fairly quickly without making it too obvious it's just not working for you (it's not pleasent having to stay through a four course meal when you've decided after the first course that there is no "connection"). Secondly, it should be somewhere that can allow things to progress if it does go well. Although rollerblading is a fun activity and a good way to break the ice, it doesn't really lend itself progressing on to dinner or drinks once you are all hot and sweaty. Coffee or drinks on the other hand can always lead to dinner...which can lead to drinks and dancing...which can lead to a number of fun things;)
