You were only allowed one choice as to "What are you looking for" so I said activity partner, but I am really open to almost anything. I do not like to overplan my life. I like not knowing what is going to happen next. Life should be a surprise. That being said I often do find myself doing some things fairly often I guess these are the things I have found that I like to do. I frequently find myself in a canoe for example and almost daily will find a guitar in my hands. I love women and try to be a good partner, date, friend, lover or whatever the situation of the present demands.

I believe I am intelligent and I know I have an odd and quirky sense of humour. I love life and normally wake to a good mood. I am inquisitive and curious, I laugh easily and find that heroism in people, makes me cry in an odd but good way. I love beauty and do take the time to look at the stars. My favourite quote is "Don't believe everything you think".

Honesty is a real big deal for me. I try as best as I can to live my life with honesty and integrity. It is the only real rule I ever had raising my sons, I always asked them to be honest with me. I always told them that no matter what the problem if they came to me and honestly stated what it was I would always help them with it.

The most important thing I have ever done is to raise my sons. I have 2 boys who have grown to become really decent young men who are on their own now. I also have a 15 yr old stepson from my second marriage whom I am still in close contact with. I can't just walk away from him just because his mother and I have parted ways. (UPDATE)My "EX" has decided to move away from the Kootenay's so I guess my contact with my stepson will be largely via phone and email....

Update: My eldest son and his wife have just had a baby boy 9lb. 1oz. I am a grandfather. :)

I am a musician, a writer, an artist though aside from the music which is daily I do tend to shelve the other artistic pursuits at times. I have been known to go a year or more without writing anything other than a grocery list and then spend a few weeks doing little else but writing. Painting too comes and goes. Quite often when I get the urge to paint I will have to go out and buy fresh paints as the old ones have hardened. But these things are what they are and I do not feel I could force them.

In order to fund the things I like to do I also have a full time job. I have been working for the same employer for 31 years and I have clawed my way up to the middle. I will retire in 18 months with a good pension and still be young enough to enjoy it.

I have 5 earrings, 1 in my right ear and 4 in my left. This is to keep me leaning to the left. I tend to take a socialists view on most things. I am pro choice, pro gay marriage, pro children's rights, pro humanity. Sexually I am straight but not narrow. I love my gay friends and often join in Pride as I am proud of them. I love my narrow minded friends as well and do what I can to provide solace to them in a world they more and more do not understand. I value my quiet alone time but long to have someone to share the good bits with. There is nothing sadder than seeing something that evokes a yell of "WOW DID YOU SEE THAT" only to realize you are alone. Conversely nothing kewler than having someone answer back "F**K YEAH!!!".
I see something like this often, is it because I look for it or am I just lucky, either way if you are with me you'll see it too.

I am in the few extra pounds category but I am in good health and bike or walk for at least an hour a day. (NOTE I have recently had 2 women tell me I am not what they would call a few extra pounds so I guess you will have to judge this yourself)
I like to move forward I try to really learn from the lessons of my past and not make the same mistakes over again, especially since there are so many great new mistakes to make. I hope this sparks the interest of some woman out there. I eagerly await your contact.

A bike ride, or a jaunt in the canoe would be nice, for a first date. I could show off my considerable talents at making a small picnic lunch. The first date would of course come hopefully after a first meeting which would probably be coffee (tea for me) in a public place where we could chat a bit. Another possibility would be a golf date. I am not very good at the game but I do enjoy it.
