First of all, I am a well-built, drug/disease-free guy with a good job, a decent car, and no major psychological issues. Hopefully, that's enough to get you to read the rest of this epic, long-winded profile...
Here's the
Cliff's Notes version of my life story. I served in the Air Force for seven years on a crash rescue team and was involved in operations for the Persian Gulf war and Bosnia, which got me interested in human rights. So I got out and studied philosophy and history at Texas A&M intending to become a human rights lawyer but, law school didn't work out (long story). After some retraining, I'm now a medic in north Dallas. I love my job! Even when it's heartbreaking you can still do great things to help people.
Basic About-Me's I am a left-libertarian (conservative in some ways, liberal in others), a peace activist, a pretty decent martial artist, an aspiring writer, and a practicing buddhist. In a few years when I'm also an R.N. I plan to spend a few more years overseas doing relief work.
My professional goal is to be a
flight paramedic and I should achieve that in about five more years.
I am a certified counselor in Suicide Hotline, Rape Crisis Intervention, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder for combat veterans.
My interests are: writing, art, literature, the sciences, and academics in general. I am an aspiring author and a fairly accomplished computer artist.
Every day I work out, read, practice martial arts (jiu-jitsu), daydream a lot, and meditate.
I am a
buddhist in the philosophical sense rather than the religious sense. I am not "religious" at all, but consider myself a very spiritual/philosophical man.
I am an active member of
Veterans For Peace and have taken part in several protest events in New York, Dallas, and Washington D.C.
I listen to heavy metal. Loud.

I have a cat...
=^-^= (And every person I've ever met who "hates cats" has turned out to be a jerk, so that's why I'm mentioning it here.)
I am seeking a woman with a strong creative side, who loves to read, who is affectionate and sensual, compassionate and honest, takes good care of herself (mind and body), who is kind and giving, likes to travel to non-tourist destinations, and who enjoys the cerebral side of things.
You can't be: neurotic, whiny, shallow, pedantic, ignorant, on the run from the law, clinically insane, stuck in the 80's, a religious fundamentalist, hateful, arrogant, terrified of ethnic minorities, frigid, stupid, closed-minded, or spoiled rotten. (A
little bit insane or spoiled is okay.) Nymphomania is
perfectly acceptable...I can live with that.
Personally, I can be a bit shy at first but warm up quickly to the people I like. I'm an introvert who likes to hang out occasionaly, but prefer small groups or the company of just one special person. I love deep conversations infused with surreal humor, word games, and random Monty Python references...sounds effects are desired, but not a requirement.
I open up very quickly to those I trust and tend to be inscrutable to others.
I am: fiercely protective of women without being sexist, extremely well-read but not snobbish, physically powerful but innately gentle (I don't even kill insects anymore), deeply serious but very funny, shy but able to stand up and give an impassioned speech in front of hundreds, and finally...I am continuously heartbroken by the things happening in the world but still deeply in love with it.
I'm also
rather handy with tools, computers, first aid, cars, building things, growing things, changing tires, decorating/remodeling, and writing

I am a
very open-minded, free-thinking person. If you consider yourself a "traditional" or "conservative" person, or you have Jesus on your speed dial, then we will probably disagree on a lot of things. I'm okay with that if you are.
The photos of me in the white uniform shirt and at home in the brown shirt are exactly how I look right now. Yes, those photos are all of me, even though they do look pretty different.
