Four years ago I retired and decided to make a major change. I took off 60 pounds with daily walking, cycling, hiking and swimming and turned all this daily activity into a habit that I’ve kept to this day.
Recently, after 3000 miles a year of biking and a few pavement-hitting accidents along the way (ouch-they hurt), I've decided to learn ballroom dancing and am determined to get good at it with lessons, partners and the right shoes. Is it true that there is a shortage of men on the dance floor?
The mind and soul are important, so I work on these areas with daily reading and writing. One of the things I like about POF is the forums. I write there to amuse myself and earn a chuckle from readers.
I find myself surrounded by friends who have diabetes, as I do, and I help them as much as they’ll let me. I never tire of learning more about this condition. If you need any help in this area, drop me a line. Helping others with this is a kind of avocation of mine.
I’m passionate about hiking in Griffith Park and on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I’m still in love with cycling thirty to forty miles along the South Bay route to Santa Monica, though I'm still smarting from my last fall.
My favorite recent book is Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. I just finished David McCullough's "Truman" and enjoyed it very much.
I’m a big fan of email and talking on the phone. I love digital photography and am skilled with Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
If any of this sounds remotely interesting, drop me a line.
I’ve never found romance by looking for it directly. The great loves appear to happen by chance.

Update on dancing: I'm looking for a dance partner...someone who lives in the South Bay and would like to do swing dancing at Alpine Village. Drop me a line.

The ideal first date is whatever we decide to do.
