I got a new digital camera for Christmas! I can take a better picture now I hope.. once I figure out all the bells and whistles. It's a new Nikkon Coolpix... anyone have any hints? Now the only thing I need to work on is being too shy to contact some of the intersting men that seem to be here. :P

Sigh.. Here we go again. This whole thing makes me terribly uncomfortable, but just where are you supposed to meet people these days? I’ve done the church thing (all families and seniors), the taking classes thing (a bunch of women) and the gym thing (I look and feel reaalllly attractive with my makeup sweated off and smelling bad). So I am dangling my big toe in the pond and hoping it doesn’t get bitten off by a piranha.

The basics about me. I am 48 years old. That number shocks the hell outta me as I don‘t feel that old most of the time, but that is what my drivers license says. I have blond hair that is being helped by trips to the beauty parlor every two months. I take some comfort that when I go completely white, it is a lovely shade of white. No gray! I have blue eyes that need reading glasses from too much time on the computer. I go to the gym 5 days a week to try to stave off gravity and lose 20 pounds. I should be perfectly thin, fit and trim by now, but I guess my body has other ideas. I am quite strong though, so I take comfort in that. I like to cook, hence the extra 20 pounds, read, play computer games, garden sometimes, annoy my cat, go for day trips and volunteer. I am also partially deaf in one ear and am extremely shy. I want get it all upfront because if something is going to be a deal breaker, best not to waste your time or mine! I have a Bachelor’s Degree and work as a buyer . I don’t ride motorcycles, but if you do great. Just know I won’t be getting on one. I like local travel and day trips, but at this point in my life, big traveling expeditions don’t thrill me.
Now about you: You are around my age , plus or minus 6-8 years. My father passed away when he was 55, so I am still struggling with dating anyone 55 and over. Sorry. I probably need to see a therapist about that. You have been to college, probably have a degree like I do, are intelligent, kind, honorable, funny, patient and someone I can learn to trust. I don’t expect anything from anyone that I don’t bring to the table myself. You are a light to a non drinker. Things that don’t work for me: Smokers, and people that are involved in drugs are two biggies, along with the usual liars, cheaters and the not nice people. I live in San Jose so if you live more than 10-15 miles away or outside of Santa Clara Country, this won’t work. Physically, I am attracted to men who aren’t skinny and are taller than me. I am not a petite flower and never will be. Oh yeah, and you aren't married, separated nor do you have a girlfriend lurking someplace.

I am not looking to exchange one email and then meet nor am I wanting to email for months.. There has to be a happy medium. Please let me know you read my profile if you email me. I can spot a cut a paste job most of the time, so tell me what in my profile caught your eye. I'm not looking for an instant relationship because I don't believe in them. I also don't believe in the concept of "soul mates". I think there are several people one could be happy with. It all depends upon what compromises each person is willing to make. I’d settle for a nice companion these days.

In my professional life, I am very assertive. In my personal life, I am very shy and it is highly unlikely I'd initiate an email with anyone.. so if we seem like a match, send me a note. :) I am a lady, not a one night stand nor a hoochie so please don't email me for that.

As far as a first date, some activity where we can be doing something rather than sitting around just talking. Lord knows that's hard enough on a first date!
