day to day.. I enjoy talking about ideas and dreams..politics and policy, design, ethics and philosophy,community and religion and the interface with science and technology, about motives and choices and cabbages and kings (well not cabbages really) . I generally read a few pages of *something* before bed, and I'm a chronic re-reader of old favorites but still grab history,biography, science fiction and technical/analysis books as fancy strikes me. I like *making* things and fixing things and cleverly reusing things. I'm a cheapskate, but an elegant one. I'm a romantic, but a practical one. I've been around the block a few times at this point but still remember what it feels like when you've got it right. I know what I'm looking for.

At this point in life I have hobbies and friends and projects enough to keep me happily busy every weeknight and weekend... so to be blunt, I *am* looking for sex.. the person closer than any other, the one I spend the most time with, the one trusted and adored who returns all of those things. If youre better at giving than getting.. well, so am I and while its *awkward* at times i think that really *IS* the best match.. two people who want to *give* to each other more than recieve..

Also, although I said (entirely honestly and accurately) that sex is at the heart of the matter, I dont *get* people who can do 'one night' or 'just sex'.. if it was a good idea you should hold on with both hands.. and if it wasnt its like a sculpture of a cake made from ashes-with all the risks and hopes and heartaches why *DO* that?

Dating is a funny business. Its like deciding who would be the safest driver or the best mechanic by seeing who is better at closing the deal with dealership.

I'm not looking for someone whos good at DATING.. I want to find someone who is good at *love* and living *WITH* someone in their life.. not just at the beginning but still waking with smiles we put on each others faces for months and years to come.

Unfortunately 'dating' is what we've got until someone comes up with a better way. Pastries and scrabble to start? Or a walk? *meeting* the first time should be no big deal..we run into and talk to strangers every day...sites like this one just make the odds better of running into someone who , at least superficially , fits.. and we can take it from there.
