About Me
Okay, try this on for size...
I'm mostly self-employed in the computer industry. As much as I dig computer-type stuff, since it became a career music seems to have taken over as my real interest. My bad-ass hacker skills are basically a means to an end, I guess, eh? There's an old saying, or at least as old as computer programming has been a thing: all computer programmers really want to be rock stars. Look at Elvis Costello: dude was a computer programmer before he hit it big with the Attractions. It must have something to do with all of that time spent in offices and cubicles...
I am originally from Cape Breton and as far as I'm concerned I've just been on loan to the Upper Canadas for this past decade. You're a nice people, don't get me wrong, but I will always be a stranger amongst you, try as you might to entice me with your Canada's Wonderlands and Domes of the Sky and whatnot. I'll give you ten of your cities for Marion Bridge and the pleasures it brings. As befits a proper Cape Bretoner, I do have that accent, and I can and will use it extensively when necessary.
Here are readin' books I's be readin':
- Redemption Song: The Ballad of Joe Strummer - some Rolling Stone magazine collection of Bob Dylan interviews from back in the day - some crazy graphic novel version of The Great Gatsby. I dunno.
Recent listenin's:
- the Theme Time Radio Hour with your host Bob Dylan. It's kind of a throw-back radio show that Bob did in the style of the classic DJs from the good ol' days before Top 40 and AOR ruined it all. - some old Stan Rogers stuff. His voice just slays me. - the Flaming Lips are getting some pretty heavy rotation. Most the early stuff. - been pretty heavy on live Clash recently. Just got the '82 Shea Stadium show where they opened for the Who.
Anyways, that's that. Thank y'all for readin'.
First Date
I prefer to go for the simple things, like monster truck duels or helicopter races.
