First date... I would just like to meet the person. You know make sure that who you are corresponding with via email and/or phone is who they say they are (i.e. the opposite sex, within 50 years of their stated age, and look remotely like the pictures posted.)
I like food so dinner would be a great place to do this. The worst case scenario you at least get a good meal. If there is any chemistry extending the date to something active or adventurous would be good.
