About Me
I'm a relaxed (type B), spontaneous, adventurous, and slightly dorky (in a good way, hopefully) guy. I'm originally from Connecticut, got my undergraduate degree in Massachusetts, and moved down to PA to work in the bio-pharmaceutical industry. After working as an engineer for a while I came to the realization that no one grows up saying they want to be a middle manager in a giant corporation. So after much deliberation, I decided to pursue my passion for wine as a career. So I embarked on the 2800 mile drive to UC Davis to get my Master's degree in Viticulture and Enology.

After a year here, I've completed almost all of my classwork. I took the last couple months off from school to work harvest out in the Napa Valley and absolutely loved the experience (along with some of the many perks of being in the wine industry). Now that harvest has wrapped up, I'm back in Davis to finish my last few classes and complete my thesis. Now that I'm back, I can often be found in one of my grad labs (working on wine filtration or wine sensory projects), out in wine country doing "research" (enjoying the free wine tastings afforded industry members), in the kitchen working on one of the current house distillation projects (we're attempting to make gin as I type this), or outside somewhere hiking or playing sports.

I'm someone who constantly tries to put himself outside of his comfort zone in order to experience everything life has to offer. I love traveling, especially to non-traditional places, to really get a feel for what the world is like beyond my little part of it. Right before moving to CA I spent 3.5 weeks in Egypt and Tanzania that included climbing to the peak of Mt Kilimanjaro. I also lived in Taiwan for two months during my undergraduate studies. Some of my travel goals for the next few years include hiking to Machu Pichu in Peru and climbing Mt McKinley in Alaska.

I like to think that I'm comfortable in pretty much any situation, from going out in the city to back packing through the mountains, from watching the UFC in a local dive bar to dressing up for a wine tasting, or from watching Shakespeare in the park to staying in and watching movies.

First Date
Tara Reid: Its not a date, its an interview.
Van Wilder: First dates are interviews.

Sums it up right? Just kidding. Dates where all you do is ask questions are actually pretty boring. I'm in favor of activities that allow you to actually get to know each other in a more open environment than a restaurant or movie theater. Maybe a ball game, comedy show, mini golf, . . . something like that. Remember: Fortis fortuna adiuvat. Which translates to "fortune favors the bold" for those of you who didn't waste their time in high school attempting to learn dead languages ;-p
