About Me
The dream... A lover, a friend, a confidant, a sounding board, a opposing viewpoint and agreement where appropriate, a warm hand in mine on cold days, a hearth with a warm fire that burns for me, a candle in the window, a smile in the crowd, a knowing glance that is ours alone.
I am going to take a little time on these so sit back relax.
Of what I am most proud:
My first, knee jerk reaction is to name my son, Oliver. But that doesn't really say anything about me other than that I love my son. Which should never go without saying (to him), but says only a little of my character.
I have lived a very diverse life. It is what I am most proud of, next to my son. I have, from the time I was sixteen, until a few years back, wandered America. I have attended four universities and a couple of community colleges. I have owned a bakery I built myself in Vermont, a computer consulting firm with penthouse offices on Park Ave, I have mined crystals and amethyst on my own out I the woods.
I have been wildly successful, as well as dead broke. I am proud of the world I have seen and the life I have lived, and I am not even half done yet.
No, I am not a native Barbertonian. I am however, from Long Island. I went to private school in Manhattan when I was a boy and have spent a fair amount of time throughout my life in the Metro area. Although I have lived in a lot of places, I am fairly well traveled. I spent a large amount of time in Vermont and Texas so I am a bit of a country boy at heart.
I was married for ten years although my ex-wife and I have known each other for twenty years and we currently hate each other and do not speak. My son, Oliver, is actually my ex wife's son from a former marriage. I have to say though that I got a great son out of it. He's sixteen going on forty, and has been calling me dad since he was three. I take my responsibilities to him very seriously. He lives in New Jersey so I occasionally wander out that way. I am trying, of late, to convince him that reading a novel is actually a good thing.
I am tall (six foot six), mild mannered, reasonably intelligent. I like to think if I was really smart I would be a lot richer. I like science fiction movies, and walks in the park. I like museums and botanical gardens. I like the grateful dead and string concertos. I like camping and obscenely expensive hotels (although to be honest it has been quite a while since I could afford one). I cook for friends, family, and myself. I am told I am good. No one has died yet. I give blood occasionally just in case.
I would love to have someone to wander the museums with, take a cruise to the glaciers, walk the beach in Belize. Watch "Lost" and eat my cooking, find cool out of the way restaurants. Curl up on the couch and watch a good movie. I really like to garden but veggies with a few flowers. Straight flower gardens are a waste.
I am a corporate geek for computer repair and network management. I love tech support- being it, not calling it. I'm beginning to accumulate some antiques for my apartment and love going antiquing. Don't know much about antiques but enjoy the purchase process and I'm told I have a good eye.
Anyway, that's me.
