Sorry if this sounds harsh, but If your profile says "PREFER NOT TO SAY" for anything, I assume the worst, otherwise why would you "PREFER NOT TO SAY"? Would you believe that there are people who lie on the internet???

If you can't be honest, don't bother. I prefer you tell me right up front...hiding things just makes it worse in the long run.

If your profile has no picture, again, I assume the worst. So, send it in your first email or it's not going to get much further.
