Originally from Australia, I moved to Canada in 1990 for one year and loved it so much, I stayed! And, yes, I'm a Canadian now too. I lived in Japan as an exchange student when I was 16 and that was my calling that I had to see more of the world. Australia is a nice place to visit - don't get me wrong - but I wanted to leave the country as much as most people need to leave their parents place! I still love to travel and hope to visit Ireland and Spain sometime in the next year or two (Cuba in December '07 was great!).
So why would anyone want to stay in Canada after coming from Australia? Well, really, take a look around! It's a beautiful country here. And I love that in Winnipeg, it's more like three degrees of seperation between everyone, not six degrees. And even though winter can be a tad cold, you appreciate the summer that much more because of it. I love the change of color of the fall, watching kids tumble in the leaves. And that first color of the year when the trees start to blossom. It's amazing to land in a plane in spring and see a sea of green when only a few weeks before, it truly is the 'great white north'. How could you not love all that?! :)
I love being with people in pretty much any setting - to chat, debate, banter, drink, tease and do pretty much anything possible to have fun and keep smiling. I love my friends even if they think I'm a nutcase! Well, they may be right, but I'm a good kind of nutcase, if there is such a thing.
I enjoy reading when I want to relax at home. The last book I read was 'Plain Truth' by Jodi Piccoult which is a fascinating reads. It is based in an Amish community, where an unmarried teenager gives birth, denies it, and is then put on trial for the murder of the baby. Jodi has an amazing talent for creating characters that make you feel uncomfortable having empathy with, but who you're drawn to anyway. Well worth reading.
You're an intelligent, confident woman, who likes staying active and being with people. You're self aware, and know that strong relationships are built through good communication and trust. Your favorite comedian is George Carlin. And your favorite sunset is on a warm beach somewhere with a glass of red wine in one hand and a great guy in the other.
For now, I'm looking for someone to hang out with, be friends, have fun, and enjoy life. If things happen to progress to something different, I'm OK with that too. So tell me something interesting about yourself.

First Date
Let's face it - so many people want to go for coffee in case the date really sucks. Gee, what a way to start! I that I like to be more optimistic about it. Communication is a lot more than just words and I see a first date as just getting to know someone. So I'd like a first date where that can happen and we can have some fun. Something like coffee! Oh, wait, no, I already ruled that out... how about the corn maze, or bowling, or pool. And if anyone is up for a hot air balloon ride, let me know as I'd really like to try that one day. I've flown planes but I think ballooning would be a very different kind of experience.
But it has to start with saying hello first - so try that for now and tell me a little bit about yourself when you do - it's nice to know who I'm talking to!
