About Me
Hi, Thanks for stoppin by. I'm hickster97. I am a nationally certified, proffesional hunting and fishing guide and I mainly do gasfitting and renovations in the off season here in Kelowna. I am a total "Jack of all trades" but plumbing/gas seems to pay the best. "Smells like money!" I am an avid hunter, fisherman, camper, archer, golfer, frisbee golfer, snowboarder and story teller. I do a lot of travelling and only have 2 continents left to touch down on. Anyone want to go to South America or Antarctica? Originally an Ontario farmboy, I have been coast to coast in Canada a couple of times but still have yet to explore the territories. I'm loving the Okanagan though. Been here just about 2.5 yrs now! BC is my 5th province to live in, but may very well be the last! My motto is make as many friends, in as many places as you can and diversify your talents. Then you can go anywhere and do anything. I believe in the Golden Rule, and was brought up with old fashion values, but through travelling I've met plenty of new age free thinking people who have helped me learn to think outside the box. I constantly have friends from all over the world visiting/staying with me no matter where in Canada I am. They always know I'm going to be up to SOMETHING exciting. I always keep a spare room for travellers as there has always been one available for me when I am out and about. I'm here to live life, and have fun so drop me a line if you want someone exciting to hang with. I am on a path that seems to be unravelling itself and taking me all over the world. People often have trouble believing all the places I've been and all the things I've done. But my stories are all true. Well....I embelish a bit here and there for effect, but I never lie. I am a very unique person and I live an amazing life. I would love to settle down one day with someone special and run my OWN lodge, year round. It doesn't seem like Kelowna is the place to find a woman who could potentially see themselves living in a log cabin for a large part of the year. LOL So I'm not really here looking for someone as much as I am hoping to be found. And makin' new friends along the way to enjoy all the best our Canadian outdoors has to offer. Just drop me a line!! I'm very resourceful, and a whole lotta fun!! Thanks, hickster97 '07 recap-took 3 months off to host 4 Aussies and take them snowboarding. We hit 8 different mountains spanning 2 provinces on top of holding dual mountain passes for Silver Star and Big White!! Presently hosting a friend from The Netherlands for a late season snowboard/early season fishing/hunting trip. Already caught some beauty Rainbows in the Kettle River and Beaver Lake!! Amazing fall guiding season closes with 4 successfull moose hunts and me taking my largest moose yet! Even got my first BC Whitetail!! Man I love BC!! Already got my BW/SS pass!! Bring on the snow!! As another great snowboarding season comes to a close (5 different mts this year! Revelstoke rocks!) I look forward to the awsome camping, beaches, golfing and fishing that the sunny Okanagan has to offer!! Disc golf back at Knox Mt! WooHoo!! May '08-Heading back up to the woods for spring guiding! C-YA IN A MONTH! June '08-Back from spring guiding, one of my most successful seasons yet! Guided 7 successful hunts, got charged by a bear, caught heaps of fish, added 5000 new off road k's to the truck and made big $$ doing it!! haha! July '08 Okanagan summers are amazing!! I'm glad I have so many friends from overseas and elsewhere in Canada that visit me here to share it! Guiding for friends is a lot less stressful than guiding for clients! lol But alas....much harder on my liver!! Sept-08 Headin' back up north soon to guide for the fall!! Nov-08 Fall guiding was a success once again, but there is still plenty of fun in the woods to be had before the snow really starts to fly! Then, bring on the powder!!! March '09-WOW........I've been on POF for way too long.........I must be an allumnist or something by now!! I guess I'm not doing enough waxing, tanning, frosting, juicing and bragging to meet the standards of Kelowna women!! Maybe my truck isn't jacked up high enough.........Let me know if I'm wrong.......lol May '09-Heading back up north for 3 weeks of spring bear guiding!
First Date
I think snowboarding is a great first date. You get to see the person with lots of colour in their cheeks. Plenty of time to get to know each other on the lifts. Take a picnic lunch in your backpack (hopefully it dosen't get squashed). Ride again for the afternoon. At the end of the day its never too hard to find a fireplace to warm up near over a couple of drinks. Pretty much covers all the bases. At least all those bases you're allowed to get to on a first date! lol If the snow is gone, golf or frisbee golf would be my first choice, then fishing or 4x4ing!!
