Outlook - My general view on life is that as long as someone is not infringing upon the life, liberty or property of me or those I care about, they should be free to do what they want. This comment may ignite controversy, but if that is the case please bring it on. I love spirited, but courteous, discussion.

I'm pretty laid back most of the time, but don't take that to mean that I am lazy or unmotivated. I work hard when it is called for and, by the same token, I play hard. At a social gathering I can be the life of the party or just an interested observer. How we act, like how we love, depends on those with whom we are interacting. I've been known to liven up a dead party and I've left a few gatherings that I thought were out of hand.

My Career - In my most recent job I was co-founder of a software company and I am currently an independent contractor, working on a cool project to bring the content of old newspapers, as far back as 1836, to the internet. I've had a few really great jobs, the best being a U.S. Marine for ten years. I'm talented, successful and proud of my accomplishments.

Career update - I am now proudly employed, part time, as an associate winemaker, involved in all aspects of the wine making process. In a pinch, or for special events, I also work in the tasting room, helping patrons understand the many facets of our award winning wines.

Lifestyle - Things that excite me? I'm (usually) a diehard Redskins fan and rarely miss a game (on TV). I also like to watch NASCAR now and then. When it's cold I like to sit in my hot tub and enjoy the moon and stars. One of my favorite pastimes is riding my Harley. Living in the mountains makes riding exceedingly pleasant. You on the back, with your arms around me would make it even better. I also enjoy playing golf, with a nice public course close by. I can dress up when I have to but prefer casual dress. I also enjoy working on the house and making improvements when time allows.

Relationships - Love is great, being in love is better. Once I am committed, I stay that way. Each relationship is a learning experience and I hope to learn more each day about mutually attained happiness. These ads are replete with statements about the importance of honesty and communication and it is my assertion that both are essential to a successful relationship.

Domesticated, too - I'm a great cook (open can, pour into 2 quart saucepan, heat until smoking). Okay, I'm not a chef, but I'm very comfortable in the kitchen and have several signature main courses plus an unrivaled recipe for deviled eggs. I don't mind doing the laundry but I hate doing dishes. Since I take care of all the guy things, like oil changes, tire rotations, foot massages, opening doors, etc. I would hope that my aversion to dishes would be overlooked now and then.

Dinner at a nice, quiet restaurant is a great first date. It provides the opportunity to talk and get to know each other more fully. I like to go to a place where I am not well known to avoid the inevitable interruptions, thus giving me the opportunity to devote my full attention to my date. If we hit it off and the weather is nice, a walk in the park or around town would be enjoyable.
