Hello ladies ! I'm an easy going, old fashioned guy looking for an easy going, laid back gal. I'm looking for someone that wants a long term relationship. I prefer slim ladies but a few extra pounds are ok. I believe personality is more important than looks. If you have a sense of humor; that would be nice. If you have the patience of a saint; that would be great. I can be trying sometimes. I'm not into dishonesty or game playing nor drama; although I probably kid around too much for my own good. I retired a couple of years ago and I now spend my time enjoying myself; taking things easy. Life is good and is much too short to spend it unwisely.

That said ... for those of you who have trouble keeping their word ? Skip on by, please. We don't have anything in common with each other.

Speaking of words; one of the most impressive lessons I have ever learned is...."Be doers of the word and not just hearers only." James 1:22; Because..."What does it profit my brothers, if a man says he has faith but has not works" ? "Can his faith save him ?...So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead". James 2:14-17

How many of you ladies know or have known Christians who just love to talk the talk but tend to fall by the wayside when it comes to walking the walk ? These 'Christians' are hearers of the word; but are not doers of the word.

This is not to say that I'm a Jesus freak. I'm not. Spiritual but not religious describes me best. Regardless; one has to do works( i.e. good deeds ) for his fellow [wo]men. Those who do not or will not are not merely dead spiritually but also morally. As the title of my profile says "Actions not words".

There are 5 things a person must never do: lie, steal, cheat, fight, or drink to excess. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. If you must fight, then fight for your brother. And if you must excessively drink, then drink in the moments that take your breath away. Or...alternatively, if you drink, may it be with me.

I take each day as a learning experience. I believe learning never ends. I get up everyday with a new set of things to accomplish. I meet people all through the day - some I know, some I don't. As each day passes, I am not sure whether I am moving towards something or drifting away further from the past. At the end of the day, or the end of the night, I enjoy (or at least try to enjoy)a peaceful sleep. I believe I haven't achieved much in life; because there are so many things; in fact beautiful things I haven't seen, read, heard, tasted or even sensed. And it also counts for people including YOU who are reading this. I guess that's all I can write about me at this point.

I recently received a poem written by the late Audrey Hepburn that I want to share with ya'll; it says.........

What would I do for a first date ? Depends on the lady in question; not all ladies want the same thing. Some ladies see a few Instant Messaging sessions as the equivalent of a first date; (BTW, my yahoo messenger ID is yp_bob_lufkin@yahoo.com and my yahoo mail chat ID is long_bob). Others see the first telephone call as being the first date. Others prefer just having a cup of coffee, or a glass of wine or a beer together.

I'm generally a dinner and a movie kind of guy. I like to entertain; therefore I'd be doing the cooking. After dinner, whether going out to the cineplex or staying in to watch Dvd's or online movies; I'd leave up to my date.

For our first time together it's always better to relax and have a good long conversation. Long walks are good for getting acquainted; whether in a park or at the lake. During the full or new moon phase of each month, my vote is for the lake. Just don't get mad at me if I bring along fishing rods for us. You never know when either crappie or those REALLY big bass will be feeding close to shore. Have any of you ladies ever caught a 10 lb bass (or larger) ? It's an experience you'll never forget.
