I enjoy stimulating conversation, yet enjoy silence, as well. Professional, Bachelor's+, lifelong learner. Have friends of all persuasions/lifestyles, male/female. Skiing, nordic/alpine is a passion. Hiking/walking is high on my list of favorite things. Foreign films thrill, subtitles are never daunting; eclectic/indie films intrigue me. Musical tastes run far and wide: mariachi to hip-hop to classic rock to techno, but mostly Alternative. Art is my life. Love travel, anywhere. Love animals and most kids. Own a big husky. Gardening/yardscaping, hanging out at home, and making art are simple pleasures. Like cooking gourmet food- eat organic. Most comfortable outdoors, mountains, desert SW, ocean. Divorced: '99, no children. Politically left of center. I no longer smoke ('90), so I prefer someone who doesn't, or does it very infrequently.
A few of my favorite things: WXPN, Anthony Bourdain, IFC, art museums, ski resorts, indie music, First Fridays, MPR (The Current), Asbury Park, NM, San Diego, the woods, live bands, red wine, microbrews, ethnic food, Philly, Inner Harbor, Stowe, camping, black comedies, Radiohead, Top Chef, Project Runway, Ovation TV, sitting around a campfire w/ friends... I appreciate smart, witty humor. I quote Ron (from POF) who paraphrased this quote from Hunter S. Thompson: "The online dating business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side..."

I gravitate towards an intelligent man w/ a sense of humor. Secure in himself, not arrogant, kind, sensitive, aware of the finer things in life, as well as life's simple pleasures. Likes animals. Interested in art/culture. Spontaneous but mindful that my dog is my responsibility. Music of all types is high on his list of pleasures. Post high school ed is preferred, although I have known plenty of men who were intelligent and interesting without a degree. Should have a modicum of self-control, especially when drinking. Please be single, divorced, widowed, or never married.

No headgames. I am a real person that tells it like it is. Please have/make the time to slowly cultivate a friendship/relationship; key word here is- slowly. I'm not looking to be just a Saturday date or an every-other weekend date. Mutual respect and communication is the key. Honesty is paramount.

Walk the dog. Meet at a microbrew. Coffee/tea. Surprise me.
