I'm sure that I need to add something new here. For the last few days, I've been acting as the local liaison for the Irish Rugby Football Union A side. This is the team just below the national team. Perhaps you could compare them to a Team Canada if you took the next best 22 players who didn't make the team. It has certainly been an interesting team. Do I know where to rent jet skis in Kingston or buy an Irish paper? Or, what do I do when the team changes its mind about tomorrow's training schedule after the bus company office is closed for the day? Will I be able to orchestrate the desired change? If I don't reply to your e-mail, it may well be because I didn't, and the coaches lynched me.

Anyway, my main picture was taken on Robbie Burns Day of 2008. Since I have the kilt, I try to wear it a few times a year.

I'm comfortable with who I am and what I do for a living. I have a wide variety of interests, and have always preferred to do things instead of idling my time away, or watching others. I'm always looking for new friends and new challenges, and if I meet that special person that everything clicks with, that would be a bonus. I prefer rural life to city life, but enjoy expeditions to the city.

I have a 20-year-old daughter who is in her second year of university, which gives me much more "free" time and I work for myself in a job that allows me the flexibility to make use of my time accordingly. I do like to travel, and will often pack my camping gear and bicycle into my Yaris and hit the road. Last fall, it was the American south-west; this year, I drove to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Most of my pictures are from my last trip. I apologize for looking so scruffy, but after 8 days in a tent, with no sign of a shower, what do you expect? The third picture shows two identical duplexes side by side in a middle class part of New Orleans. The building on the right has not been repaired since Hurricane Katrina, and you can see the water mark 1/3 of the way up the doors. This was in a good section of town, the 9th district, which is a very poor section of town, that I also visited, was much more badly damaged, and locals figure it will be at least 10 years more before New Orleans returns to normal, if ever.

When I'm not working or off on some adventure, I like to putter around on my farm or relax with friends at the Pilot House of Kingston (or the newly opened Iron Duke on Wellington, which has great food too!).

As I'm sure you are aware, it is very difficult to get more than just a feel for what someone is like from reading a profile here. I might not mention something that is important to you, not because it isn't important to me, but because I take it for granted. Moreover, I tend to be modest and understate who I am and what I've done, so rather than just dismissing me out of hand, why not write and say hello; who knows where a simple conversation will lead.

I was in a quandary concerning how to describe my body type. I'm trying to lose about 10 lbs, but think that a few pounds overweight is used as a polite euphemism for many more than a few pounds overweight; I cycle 5,000+ km a year, but don't really consider myself athletic. Consequently, average will just have to do.

This so much depends on the person, the time of the year, how well we click before we actually get together for a date, and whether there is a sense of chemistry before the date. Perhaps it might be something as simple as meeting for a hot chocolate or going for a walk. Alternatively, on a nice spring or summer day, a picnic in the country, with a little wine or beer might be ideal.
