Who in the world would not want children? If you can't get them any other way: borrow them!
I'm more serene than peppy. Always have been. More contemplative than active, but activism in aid of a cause you believe in is, well, wonderful. A life of the mind is a beautiful thing. I believe in passion more than motion. But passionate motion is a fine, fine thing. . . .
I care about people who care. A connection with the Universe is important to me, in one or the other of its manifestations: care of the soul or care of humans, being. Fun and laughter are important, but I'd settle for joy. Against all evidence, I am an optimist; pessimism and bad attitudes are deal breakers.
I'm allergic to: wasps, sulfa drugs, Rush Limbaugh, and boredom.
I shot my TV in 1994. I've been known to make my own mayonnaise, and may be the last woman in America who knows how to darn a sock.
I've seen bears crossing my roads, and a blue heron walks my river from time to time, and I get flooded in two or three times a year. Don't mind (much). On the other hand, just spent a couple of years in New York City, and I loved that, too.
I live in a house with a composting toilet, and running water only in warm weather. The rest of the time it's walking water: walk to the river, fill two buckets, and bring them in. Drive a fifteen year old Escort that gets about 40 MPG. I'm pleased with my small footprint on the planet.
My first job, at 14, was bucking rivets; my last, hospice homecare. Have a couple of college degrees which haven't been a lot of use in my life. I don't confuse college degrees with intelligence, and no one gets extra points for having one (or two or a few)(including me). I lived and taught English in China from '79 to '83. My Chinese however is pretty sucky, because no one wanted to let me practice my Chinese; they wanted to practice their English. Fair enough, eh?
What am I looking for? An interesting man, a passionate man, a loving man. (That's just one man, peeps!) Do I really think he exists? You bet. And I am a patient woman.
You? I suspect you'll know who you are. [You know what? He did.]

I'm not really a Buddhist -- it was just closer to Quaker than any of the other choices. . . .

I love
the way words swish around in my brain before they get born
the way clay feels in my hands before it tells me what it wants to be
the way my love's hands feel on my body; the way his body feels to my hands
the sound of the voice on the other end of the call that wakes me on Sunday mornings
the memories of all I've loved and who have loved me
a hug from my grandbabies, a grin, and then a shy little joke
the joy of watching Arabians feeling their oats in a big pasture
a cat curled and purring against my back
the smell of Jicky
the taste of raspberry jam on a hot biscuit
watching thunderheads pile up on a blue summer afternoon
the weight of two comforters on a winter's night
sundogs!
 | Woodbytoodsday is a sweet gentle nice lady, who has the eccentric wonderful style and personality that I like having in my life in the form of friends. And doesnt she looks spiffy in that hat? I love and wear hats all the time, so any woman who likes hats is as Anne Shirley of Anner of Green Gables would say, is a kindred spirit. |
 | each time i read her testimonial i fall in love with what my future can be! the grace, the vibrancy,..just the sheer joy that i feel she greets each day with wash over me thru the words she has written here..and she makes me smile all over again.
the navaho have a saying "she walks in beauty" about a woman who ages gracefully and i recall that saying every time i think of our delightful ms. wooby...she has given me a glimpse of how wonderful and how much fun it can be to reach that red hat stage in my life and i laugh out loud as i approach it...one of these days i hope to visit this lady and see if she has a fishin hole up there in old virginny where them bears are amblin around ...lol...i reckon if there's a heron fishin, there's room fer an old swampkat too! |
 | Ms Wooby is a woman after my own heart. She loves the outdoors, conservation, nature and everything that made our world what it was before commercialization slowly degraded the earth into what it is today. I am proud to call her a friend. |
 | If you miss the late great Molly Ivins, check out some of Wooby's postings on the forums. This gal is hilarious, with just the right amount of sardonic accuracy in her world view. So glad you're on the planet, J!!! |
 | Wooby is calm and wise. Her poetry is spare, what is not said leaving ripples of stillness and room for thought. I love how much she believes in love, her faith is catching. She walks her talk, not only on a personal level but also politically. This is a woman with so much to give, who does so joyfully. The man who has captured Wooby's outstanding personality has himself an excellent companion. I wish Wooby and her love the best and brightest life together. |
