“You can’t lose what you don’t place in the middle. But you can’t win much either.” That’s a quote from Rounders; a film that has become canon to many a poker player, and while I’m not much of a card shark, it’s quite an allegory for life, one I find myself adhering to more and more. There’s likely a direct relationship between taking a chance and learning something about yourself in the process, and that’s the type of life I see as being most fulfilling, win or lose. Point is, ultimately that’s the type of person I’m looking for. Someone who understands that it’s not all about winning, but about how you play the game.

About me: I'm an easy-going, fun-loving guy that usually keeps a low profile. I love to laugh, I'm not afraid to be afraid, and the most important thing to me is compassion and empathy. Respect for others, the environment and self, are just a few important traits that I value.

If I could drop some wisdom in this area usually reserved to describe ones self, it'd be this. Finding someone you truly click with, on a regular, and longstanding basis, is by no means an easy task. I don't think we emphasize this enough, and recognize the weight of the struggle as much as we should. Often times, our social behaviours tend to lead us into selling ourselves short, wanting to settle for something in the short term, rather than risk the loneliness associated with taking your time to find the right person. And so, frantically searching for someone to quell the thought of being lonely, and attempting to fill that gap, may actually detract from the reason you began your search in the first place. So, find what makes you happy, even if it takes a while, and never settle.
