About Me
I traveled the world with a military family. I was exposed to many cultures. After Father's retirement, I spent much of my life in Biloxi. I attended USM to earn a Bachelors degree in Education and a Masters degree in Special Education. I spent 14 years teaching 7th & 8th grade in various public school districts. I gained many personal rewards in making a difference and touching the lives of my students. For 8 years, I dealt cards at a fabulous casino located on Biloxi beach and a casino close to New Orleans...quite an experience!
I'm also a literary agent and I promote promising writers to major publishers.
I am a confident and independent woman, yet it's important to me that my partner knows that I'll always want and need HIM to be the center of my life. I'm spiritual, not religious...grateful for what I've been blessed with. I'm an attractive/valuable individual, but I'd like to be acknowledged for my INNER beauty. I like to talk and I'm also a great listener. I can appreciate ALL genres of music. I'm sometimes upbeat, sometimes mellow...whatever is the moment. I LOVE humor...best therapy in the world! I even have the ability to laugh at myself. I have many strengths, but I'm far from perfect and I'll always admit when I'm wrong (ouch!). I have my share of human flaws/demerits...(I'll overlook yours if you overlook mine! lol) I'm often told that I look and act younger than I am. To me, age is a STATE OF MIND. I feel that every person needs and deserves their own space at times.
I always try to think and behave as if there are NO problems...only SOLUTIONS. I often remind myself that it's the JOURNEY (not the destination!) that keeps my daily life so rich and filled with enthusiasm. I'm comfortable in my own skin and I'm glad that I'm ME. I don't pretend to be someone that I'm not. I like who I am...EITHER YOU LIKE ME OR YOU DON'T. I don't sweat the small stuff that won't matter in 100 years.
If you look at me closely, you will see it in my eyes: I'm for REAL.
I love to laugh, dance, browse book stores, outdoor ventures, long rides with no particular destination, spontaneous activities, my pets, my plants, scented candles, gourmet coffees, southern cooking, angels, chocolate covered raisins, long hot bubblebaths, hugs, stained glass, wind chimes and my 1907 upright piano(made in Germany!)...THE LIST GOES ON!!
I enjoy people who are honest, humble, positive, humorous, realistic, flexible, have self-respect and communicate well. I don't have the time or room in my life to deal with some people who are negative, play head games, jealous or full of drama. I REFUSE to fight/argue or to rescue a loser/user...I'd rather be alone (alone with Mr. "Buzzy") than to tolerate that sort of mentality.
I'm saving my energy to become emotionally available for the ONE & ONLY love in my life. We won't just be in love...we'll actually LIKE each other...Simpatico! We'll bring out the little kid in each other (with a bit of mischief!) enjoying the little things that matter the most. We'll bring out each other's best and accept each other for who we both ARE...never wanting to "change" the other. I'll never try to restrict or take away from who he IS. I want to ADD to his life...make him shine. The best proof of love is TRUST...I'll share all of my feelings, desires & secrets with him while he trusts me enough to share his with me...without judgment. I'll feel a special tingle every time he touches me with his eyes, his smile, his actions, his presence...a love that is obvious without a spoken word.
When the time is right, I will surrender my love and devotion to this good man who feels the same...building precious lifelong memories with my very best friend, my playful lover...what a GIFT!...I will embrace...I will never take for granted...I will never let go.
I'll gladly demonstrate my appreciation for him...every day of my life.
I will NOT settle for less just to have a warm body beside me. I'll wait for something that's REAL.
I'm patiently looking forward to the honor. It's out there...somewhere.
First Date
I'm pretty flexible about a first meeting, yet the bar scene is filled with noisy places where many lonely souls gather, so it's not such a favorable spot to get to know a new friend. On an IDEAL first date, great conversation over appetizers and a beverage with some good music in a public, casual, low-key setting would be a wonderful way to be able to learn a little about each other. We'd engage in good fellowship, sharing stories, being OURSELVES...feeling comfortable. We would keep it simple and just let things flow naturally. Time would fly by. We'd find so much more in common than we anticipated...and anxiously wait for another opportunity to enjoy each other again.
He will seem to be the kind of gentleman that any girl would bring home to Mamma. He'll also have a fun & sexy side with a hint of boyish charm.
Public displays of affection will be subtle, decent, tasteful and sincere...or not at all. I must say that I DO love surprises...a hand-picked flower, a sweet little note on my windshield, a canoe ride, a pit stop at the amusement park or...well, SURPRISE me!
We will be FRIENDS FIRST. (The better friends we are, the better lovers we will be! Agreed?) If a genuine friendship develops, it will be interesting to see where it grows from there....beautiful foundation to build on, don't you think? The rest will fall nicely into place if it's meant to be. If it is less than we expect, at least I will have the privilege to call you my friend...a win-win situation.
I don't believe in 'planned' emotions. It just doesn't work! REAL love must be incidental, mutual, NOURISHED... to be LASTING and exciting...to have some true MEANING.
Love is a PURE emotion...can't be turned on/off like a light...or imitated. Love rules from WITHIN. If you agree, we're on the same wavelength.
In short, a perfect first date would be good, clean FUN!
