Truth in advertising: warm and supportive, gentle and affectionate, patient and tolerant, erudite and articulate - and gainfully employed. Please note that I am none of the following: a smoker, a drinker, a drug user (or "420 friendly"), a movie-goer, a dancer, a party animal, a jock, a skier, "well-traveled" (which seems to be an important criterion, both as a credential and a requirement), a foodie, wealthy, religious, devastatingly good-looking, arrogant, judgmental, full of myself or a control freak. I also do not own a Harley-Davidson or any other brand of motorcycle. My idea of a good time is a concert of unusual or little-heard music (preferably unamplified), a Shakespeare play, a good lecture, a trip to a museum, a nice meal in a dignified, quiet, non-trendy restaurant or cafe, or even a stroll in the park. I will walk out of any scene that I find too loud, crowded or unruly. While I am not a member of any extended social circles, I do have a number of good friends with whom I enjoy spending time. Two of my favorite pastimes are (i) participating in a rousing session of music-making (preferably unamplified) with similarly-inclined colleagues (I play recorder and classical guitar, but I especially enjoy singing a cappella), or (ii) just spending a pleasant afternoon or evening in the company of well-spoken and well-mannered people.
On the Inbox page of this site, we are informed by Markus himself that posting a photo is "absolutely critical for success" on this site, and that "having a photo shows you are interested in meeting people", which I suppose implies that not having a photo posted means that one is here for some other reason, the nature of which frankly escapes me. Although I have not included a photo on this profile (and in fact do not even have a photo to post), I am indeed here to meet women - I simply prefer to make a first impression on the basis of what I say about myself, rather than what I look like. For the record: NO, I am NOT hideously disfigured, a fugitive from justice, a wayward husband, a dead-beat dad or a coward, nor am I the owner of any other deep, dark secret that I feel I must conceal. If you are not willing even to receive an e-mail message from me, let alone consent to meet me in person, unless you have seen my picture (particularly if you do not have one of yourself posted), then you are obviously not interested in me - nor am I in you.
A little more truth in advertising: I do not wear a tie or a suit, to work or anywhere else, if I can possibly avoid doing so, and if "clean-cut" means sans facial hair, I wear a mustache and full beard, and have been so adorned for over 30 years. How extensively you have traveled, and to what exotic locales, and for how long you lived in Europe or wherever, are of only mild interest to me. No "princesses" or "goddesses", please, and please don't tell me how "multi-faceted" or "richly-textured" your existence is. Extended lists of "interests" do not impress me, and please hold the clichés and banal sentimentality. I am, and intend to remain, a non-paying, ergo "non-serious", member of this outfit.
I seek the companionship of a single, divorced or otherwise unmarried woman around my age, who does not smoke, drink to excess or use illicit drugs (including "420"), and who has no children living with her. I am a fairly good-sized guy, so I prefer taller women, and I have a weakness for long hair. Most importantly, I seek a female companion who is good-natured, tolerant and open-minded, and who is willing to accept and appreciate me for what I am and for what I do, rather than reject me for what I am not or for what I do not do. |
