I am looking for someone who not only appreciates that people are different, but doesn't shy away from those differences.

I am an emotional person - that is, I am not afraid to express when something saddens or upsets me - too many times, though, it seems that my emotions are viewed as a weakness by my coworkers and friends rather than a strength.

I'm honest, sometimes bluntly. I believe in being straightforward (which is one reason I hate politics) and love animals, movies, reading, writing, sports and gaming.

I'm a geek at heart. I love Science Fiction, Fantasy, cartoons and role playing games and don't care one iota how 'uncool' I seem.

My ideal mate would have a sincere smile, a kind heart, a quick wit and good head on her shoulders. She needs to be able to accept me and not try to change who I am - without what makes me who I am, what do I have left? I listen to criticism and take things to heart, but there are some things that cannot/will not be changed, and those, she would need to let go and accept.

It's too bad that the site only allows me to pick one option under "I am looking for." In reality, I'm basically open for whatever comes along. I've been too strict in how I run my life where 'life' itself is concerned, and by doing that, I've missed out on some great relationships with some great people :)

Oh, and any woman looking for the 'tall, dark and handsome' type need not apply

I find that for a first date, some place unthreatening, unintimidating and quiet (so we can talk) is best. Although it seems cliche, I find that a quiet lunch or early dinner really does make for a good first date. 'Early' is a strategic choice - if we hit it off, we can go do something else afterwards more recreational, such as minigolf or whatever seems right. And, if, God forbid, the date is a disaster, we can call it a night early and still have time left to recover before bedtime ;)

Two things that I see people do all the time for first dates that just baffle me are movies and concerts. How can you talk to someone and get to know them with a movie or loud music going on? Maybe its just me.
