I moved to Austin in late 2007 to start my career after finishing my master's degree. I would love to meet some cool people to hang out/explore the area with. I love sports and anything competitive. I am down for a drink or two, some darts or pool, and love to dance when the feeling strikes me. I like to cook and will try just about anything once. I like to write when I get the chance, which hasn't been much lately, but I have started a couple songs with music for the first time. I'm originally from Illinois. I'm a bit on the shy side and I won't lie, a woman that is a little aggressive is very appealing, although I'm not into wild girls, but more someone who may seem reserved, but is a ball of energy once you get them out of their shell.

Since moving to Austin, I've started a non-profit corporation based back in Illinois to help raise money for a state park which was on the verge of being closed, but is alright now, although they still have great need for financial support. I have been laid off from one job, a day from moving to Connecticut, only to have the job pulled away, and then find another job right here in Austin. I also just adopted a wonderful chocolate lab from HOTLR. It's been eventful to say the least, and chalk full of firsts, but it would be nice to find a nice woman to start making it even more interesting than it has been already.

For a first date, pretty typical, either a nice dinner somewhere or just drinks, or if she likes to cook (like I do) then maybe we could make our own meal. Afterwards a nice walk around town. Something active and fun, maybe with a little competition. Anything where you can get to know each other. If you have a dog too, maybe we could take them to a park.
