About Me
I don't know what women want to see in a profile...and I don't know what catches a woman's eye in an initial email message. Several female friends have told me to keep it short and to the point, introduce myself, and basically say "let's talk." I've taken this approach many times but it doesn't work. Frankly I'm pretty surprised that about 90% of women read the message and delete it without replying. I get messages from women I have no interest in too, and I try to reply with a friendly "no thanks good luck." So ladies, what's the deal?
I've tried several different online dating sites on and off over the past few years. In the beginning I talked to a lot of women, and met quite a few. I've made a lot of great friends, but haven't found that one special girl yet. I used to think a hour of travel time wasn't a big deal, but it didn't take long to figure out that it is. I'm looking to find someone within 20 miles at the most, and considering the area I live in I haven't really had much luck so far. On a smaller site like this I haven't found a lot of women close to me, but everyone keeps telling me the right girl will come along when I least expect it. We'll see. I have 2 children (ages 13 and 11) that are with me quite often, so time to myself is sometimes difficult to find. They are the most important things in my life right now. The girl for me will have to understand that. I'm looking for a best friend, an activity partner for family activities and for one on one activities, and hopefully lots more.
I enjoy riding my motorcycle and golf when I have time to myself and the weather is right. Hiking and camping are fun too. I am interested in history and art, so trips to museums would be fun, but not something I'd do alone, so if that sounds like fun to you let's go! When it comes to TV or movies I like crime drama stuff like CSI and Bones, and sitcoms like Seinfeld and Two and a Half Men. But my kids usually pick the channel so I watch Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, more often than not when I get to pick the channel it's Discovery or TLC or something like that.
I don't know what approach to take when I write an initial message...I get the feeling women are looking to be swept off their feet by the first contact. Personally I normally just say hi, lets talk. It doesn't mean I'm too lazy or busy to write a long message, it just means I don't see the sense in talking until I know if you want to listen.
