About Me
Creative, hard working, all round tradesman.
Who enjoys: the outdoors, walks/hikes, reading, flyfishing, snow skiing, building and renovation, gardening/growing plants, bicycling, creative software, Digital Photography, Photoshop manipulation, Karaoke, Wind surfing, real camping, snorkeling in the tropics, enjoy horses but don't get out riding to often. (Like the last time I was horse riding was maybe ten years ago.) Did have my own horse for a spell though.
Do I actually find time do all of the above. I would like to but paying the bills and recharging for the next round of work is the reality. I believe one reason my last POF relationship ended after 6 months was because I work long hours. Actually I didn't ski at all in 2008/09 as the POF gal I was dating didn't ski.
Value a good laugh and a bright smile.
Favourite radio station is 90.9 (Je ne parle pas français.) Especially the afternoon jazz and R&B segments. Talk radio in the morning with it's symphony of ideas. Recently CBC radio2 in the morning from 6 am to 9 was a good bet until it proved to be another top 40 station. Still it's a lot of Canuck music you won't hear on other stations. Torture would be listening to Sheila Rogers followed by Opera; or more than an hour of top 40 country and Latino rhythms.
If I was stuck on an island and had limited music; I would choose some Bill Frisell, Sarah Harmer, Eva Cassidy, Mary Gauthier, John Prine, Voodo Child by Hendrix, Berceus by Chopin, Bernstein's soundtrack of West Side Story", the long live version of Spoonfull by Cream and some Diana Krall to cuddle with you. Best version of "Fever" - Michael Buble'
I play harmonica, once upon a time professionally. Also dabble with Concertina and musical saw. ( the carpenter in me).
Favourite TV was Deadwood. Since the show ended I don't bother watching TV at all. I don't own one. Actually I download every episode of Supernatural only because I work on it. Update: My daughter turned me on to a TV show titled "Glee" Good stuff. I'll probably watch it on the Net for awhile.
Favourite foods: Asiago cheese sprinkled on almost anything, mixed nuts, Sushi, fresh baked whole wheat bread with ground flax, oysters, seafood, peanut butter and banana, field greens with garlic and garnished with pickled ginger, shortbread, roasts with real gravy, spuds, fresh green beans and yorkshire pudd, fresh sockeye, coho, trout over coals, porridge with yogurt and real Maple syrup.
I have little time for: TV couch potatoes, lazy people who expect the world owes them a living. Anyone that could take Hedy Fry or Stephan Dion seriously. Tobacco smokers. If you like to smoke a little weed, I still love the smell and may join you for a puff.
Favourite inspirational net site - www.Ted.com
Authors I enjoy: Tom Robbins, Larry McMurtry, Louis de Bernieres (just finished another of his - "Birds Without Wings" wonderful, John Irving, Mark Twain, Ann-Marie MacDonald's - " Fall on your knees" Fiction and non by Charles Pellegrino.
The short story "The Man Who Died" by D.H. Lawrence encapsulates my beliefs on the healing power between two lovers.
Favourite short holiday area- Cariboo and the Caribbean.
One day I'll buy another bike but give me a smooth QUIET BMW or Goldwing over a Harley any day. There are better ways to play-out the bad boy side than dressing up and making Harley boy noise.
Lessons and Highlights of 2009: Nicaragua is not the greatest place to travel. Southern France and Northern Spain surely is. Be careful where you buy garden soil. I bought soil from a landscape supplier which looked great, smelled weird, and everything I grew in it was terrible. Oh..and all the numbers I bet on in the 6/49 didn't work out. If you win, please send me a note and I'll show you some great places in northern Spain.
I have been married twice for a total of some thirty plus years. I've done with the breeding (snip snip) and have two wonderful kids.
I definitely know what I am not looking for in a mate. As for what I'm looking for? (Here's a laundry list ha ha).
A Woman who: - can be trusted. Whose words can be followed by their actions. ( I know we all have trouble with that). - An active person. Not talking grouse grind here or go go go workout hell. I get enough of that at work. - Clean and tidy. - Not looking for a cleaning woman. I've had years of cleaning diapers, hanging laundry and scrubbing floors. Doesn't mean you live in a clinical bubble of perfection or sofas with plastic protectors. Bathing once a day falls in here. If your car is a storage facility or garbage can please roll on by as that usually indicates what your living environ is like. - Is comfortable showing affection. - Takes interest in world events. - Can spell when you send a message. - Possesses some technical savvy. - Enjoys cooking, and doesn't mind me helping out. You are not on some extreme diet where one's palate is overly limited and foods are sacrificed. Vegetarianism falls in here. I'm not saying I don't cook, as I do, and will love to cook some meals for you. - Bonus if you downhill ski. Extra points if you ski fast. (Major points if you are into moonlight cross-country skiing.) But then like I mentioned earlier I didn't ski at all last year. - Not prudish in their sexuality. (hey there's a zinger). Basically possess an active Libido. - Zero tobacco.
Please if you respond with a picture do not present yourself as a speck in the background. Step forward and shine. Actually this time around if you are not ready to presents pictures that include a close-up then chances are I won't respond.
For people who are looking for that someone who has dealt with their baggage and has had a spiritual enema and is in a constant state of bliss, I am probably not your guy. Actually the past few years I spend mostly puttering around working on my house and garden under the watchful eyes of my dog and cat. I'm not as social as I once was. I have become somewhat cynical of people. But that cynicism hasn't extended or coloured the hope of finding a loving relationship. A thought on relationship. I would like to borrow from another POF person who posed a truth for me, which I've tickled somewhat. We will meet and get to know each other with our baggage waiting patiently somewhere. Maybe under the table, in a closet or trunk of the car. Wherever. If the chemistry is there we will throw both our loads on a cart and push it around until we find the proper cliff to push it off.
All the Best in your quest.
First Date
Something informal. Meet for coffee or a drink and shoot the breeze.
If the chemistry is there, your baggage and crow's feet
become part of your smile. If you have a dog, let's walk
them. Mine's a mini-shnauzer who won't pick a fight as
long as you don't.
