STILL LOOKING...LOOKING...LOOKING HERE...LOOKING THERE...LOOKING EVERYWHERE...ALMOST MADE IT TO THE FIRST DATE...Hummmmmmmm
(May 6, 2008)
As I have stated before, I've given up giving a look into my soul through my writing. It worked for Ernest Hemingway...but not for me. Since I'm not sure which direction to take right now, let's start and see where it leads. Just list the facts....
Born and raised in southern Kansas City area. Oldest of 5 children (which makes me ultra responsible), graduated from high school and started my first full time job the following week. I have one son...age 38. Have been married twice...the first time doesn't count (should they ever) and the second relationship lasted 30 years. It was an amicable divorce...I even paid for my own attorney which surprised him.
Have lived on my own for 8 years and like it just fine. Sometimes I even wonder why I'm here but then, we all think that. We all met our exs the old fashioned way many moons ago and they're now our exs. Go figure. But on the flip side, I have a lot to offer in a relationship now because there has been a lot of growth and reflection.
Am financially responsible, excellent credit history, paid for home and car, and right now I'm working 2 jobs to get ahead a bit. There are no kids or grandkids running my life.
My likes include the color in sunsets, thunderstorms and drastic changes in the weather, the gold color light that the fall season has, flying raptors playing on the thermals, and the beautiful stealth movement that cats of all sizes have. I love dance, especially the ballet. Movement fascinates me.
Right now I'm trying to get my garden in order. My lawn is as close to perfection as one can get in nature. I mow my own lawn, shovel my own snow, pay my own bills, maintain my house and car, and do things I never thought I would or could do. PBS is my favorite TV station, and I only listen to 94.9 on the radio. But I have developed a real love of the Big Band sound of Goodman, Dorseys, and all the other greats. I would like to learn to ballroom dance and get really good. Have this fantasy of dancing to the song "Dancing in the Dark", holding each other close, with my hand on the back of your neck...sorta like Fred and Ginger. Hopeless romantic here.

Moonglow
- words by Eddie De Lange, music by Will Hudson and Irving Mills
- as recorded in New York August 20, 1934 by Ethyl Waters (1896-1977)
with members of the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra.
It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue
It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin', "Dear one, hold me fast"
And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last"
We seemed to float right through the air
Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere
And now when there's moonglow, way up in the blue
I'll always remember, that moonglow gave me you
It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue
It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin', "Sweet child, hold me fast"
And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last"
We seemed to float right through the air
Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere
And now when there's moonglow, way up in the blue
I'll always remember, that moonglow gave me you
Remember the Movie Picnic? This song helped William Holden seduce Kim Novak... if you'll remember she followed his out of town. Well, we can dream. In the meantime get Rod Stewart's CD The Great American Songbook, Vol 1. It takes us back to a more romantic time, and who knows, maybe help you one day.
Take care...later

Lunch or something light done during the day.
