About Me
I recently met someone, so I'm no longer "on the market" but want to keep my profile up to keep in touch with friends I have made on here.

~~~~~~~~~~
I may appear to be mainstream in many ways, yet I also march to the beat of my own drummer at times. My shaving my head for the cause in March 2007 (it's growing back, but most guys didn't know what to do with a shaved head when I was dating) and my trying to be a surrogate mom for friends (currently trying, we'll see if we are successful) have each led to the demise of several potential relationships over the last year. Yet I push on optimistically in the hope that I will meet someone who will love me for who I am deep down inside, and vice versa.
The picture in the blue dress is a few weeks after I shaved my head last year. The others (except the long haired one) are from this year. If my pictures look enticing, hopefully you'll give my diatribe a good look-see too.
I like too many things: Giving back to the community and volunteering. Sports and outdoor activities (except the boot I have to wear for my currently injured heel is putting a damper on that for a few months....grrr). Dining at hole in the wall restaurants. Socializing with friends over coffee, dinner, movies (even independent films), wine, and non-sedentary activities. Crossword puzzles, movies on the couch, a few silly shows on TV (hey, a girl's gotta have some downtime). Smiles, hugs, and compliments. Public appropriate displays of affection. My big orange tomcat Mojo (and no, I'm not a crazy cat lady). Not wearing makeup. Intelligence.
I dislike: Over-confidence, selfishness, people who don't help others, smoking/drugs, people who discriminate against others, superficial people, dancing, partying a lot, the hiccups.
I prefer: Someone who is loving, kind, thoughtful, and generous (but not a pushover). Someone who is confident and comfortable in his own skin. Someone who is independent yet still wants to be interdependent but is not needy -- this is tough to come by. Someone who values their friendships with people of both sexes. Someone who loves my quirks and doesn't mind my non-traditional thinking about various things (e.g. like not wanting to have kids myself but attempting to be a surrogate for friends -- one time and one time only). Someone who holds me as a man should (& I'm not just talking physically). Someone who communicates well and is social. Someone who values intelligence and personal success regardless of what others' views of success are. Someone who makes me laugh. Someone who shows me who he is up front so I can fall in love with him and not just the shell of him. Someone who shows me his appreciation and respect for me every day in his thoughts and actions (and vice versa). Someone who is strong when I am weak -- we should complement each other this way. Someone who values fitness and gets me motivated to get my butt off the couch when I should be working out. Someone who it's fun to do yardwork and dishes with
First Date
There are a lot of ways to spend a first date. Go kick a soccer ball around (when my heel is fixed). Grab coffee and walk along the waterfront. Have dinner at an ethnic hole in the wall restaurant. Go for a run (again, stupid heel). Volunteer together. Help someone move (third time's a charm, darn heel). Meet for drinks. Go iceskating (this would be comical since I'm not good at this -- shoot, #4 that I can't do right now). Basically, something interactive that allows 2 people to talk, get to know each other, and have fun.
Testimonials/comments from soccergrrlll favorites list
I went for a run with Erin near Redhook in June '07. She was in good shape and had a nice figure. She was also friendly and pleasant to be around. ---------------------------------------------------
