I am looking to enjoy the company of someone of the female persuasion that I can treat like a queen. Is this you?

A bit about me...
When I'm not working on school I enjoy getting out as often as I can. I love to go for walks, bike rides, check out the local cuisine, cook new dishes and try them with friends (wine included!), see live music, visit friends or have them over, see the odd movie, go skiing or snowboarding, hit the bars, go to the beach etc. I've been to a few film festivals and music festivals and those were a blast. I'm up for pretty much anything! Of course it's always better if I have a lovely lady to share it with. ;)

My personality is pretty laid back. It takes a lot to get me upset or stressed out. I'm told I'm mature for my age but this does not mean I have no sense of humour! I'm not a fan of all the relationship drama that happens in university life so I tend to avoid it. Which isn't too difficult, a lot of guys and girls could de-dramatize their lives by just being a bit more honest with themselves and others. Then again sometimes stuff just happens and it sucks. Life is funny that way.

I think I am different from most guys in that I am confident, not arrogant. I have no interest in the immature pissing contests that most guys enjoy. I don't feel the need to brag about my physical abilities, drinking exploits, or past sexual encounters as I have nothing to prove to those around me. I am me, take it or leave it.

I also find most guys treat the girls around them pretty poorly. No actually I would say very poorly. What happened to being a gentleman? Where's the chivalry? I believe a good guy should open and hold the door for you, pull out your chair and seat you first, see to it that you are comfortable before worrying about himself, and put a little effort into keeping himself and his place presentable. I mean girls put a lot of effort into their outfits, make up and hair so the least a a guy can do is shower, clean up his face and put something other than sweats or the jeans and T-shirt they wore yesterday on! Seriously.

Oops I think I starting ranting there...moving on

What I am looking for...I don't think I'm very picky. I like shy girls, confident girls, big girls, small girls. Girls are cute in general. ;) Everyone has issues and redeeming qualities so...I guess the only things that are turn offs for me are dishonesty, whining and a total lack of self confidence. The first two are pretty self explanatory I think. No one wants to be lied to or listen to constant complaints about everything. And there is nothing wrong with being shy but if you can't open up to someone after getting to know them then obviously the relationship can't go any further. Dependence is an issue too. Part of being in a relationship is being able to count on each other for help but being too dependent on someone isn't healthy. Besides, knowing that the other doesn't need you but wants you anyway is one of the greatest feelings! :)

I hardly watch TV at all but when I do it better be teaching me something or making me laugh. Preferably the latter! lol

I am currently finishing up undergrad at the University of Guelph. My degree is mostly science (physics and geography) but I also enjoy the humanities and when reading for pleasure often find myself reading philosophy, history or social/political/economic commentary and theory. I also like to keep informed about current affairs both locally and globally as it makes for some very intellectually stimulating conversations.

While I don't have concrete future plans I can definitely see myself continuing with grad school or some other continuing education but I'd like to take a break and do some traveling at some point in the near future. I recently was down in Honduras and really enjoyed myself. I would love to go back or somewhere else in the world, Southeast Asia maybe, Australia and New Zealand would be awesome! There are a lot of places here in Canada I'd like to see too. I've been to Banff but would love to go back. I have yet to see the East Coast or Algonquin Park and those are definitely on the list. I love to get into Ontario cottage country as often as possible too. I used to go often as a kid and I miss it.
